Miyuke Miyabe hits home with the little kid in all of us

Truly, i picked this book based on it's cover. it looks so magical and whimsical, i had to know what was going on. this book takes a while to get going, but once it's off the runway it soars! this is a fantastic book mixing very real drama with very fictional adventures. Wataru escapes to a world known as Vision to cope with his reality and deal with Vision's unreality. There's a host of beasts and creatures to learn about, it's an immersion. this is a book for any age, especially if you're a gamer. i highly recommend this book as it met every expectation i could have. thank you, Miyuki Miyabe!

    Little Slow, then picked up...

This book started out slow then eventually picked up the pace. I felt that since the book was translated, some parts were not translated well. I did, overall, enjoyed the book and would recommend it.

When I first saw this book I decided to get it for the same reason as most who first see it,the beautiful artwork on the cover.I began to read the book and it caught my attention and pulled me in from the very start. As you continue to read it is packed full of exciting adventures and great characters.I definitely recommend this book to any one who is in a need of an escape from real life for a little while.I've read this book three times now and it's safe to say that this is by far one of my favorite book.

    Long, but good.

This book takes for ever to get the ball rolling. That is probably my only complaint. But as soon as it starts, it is impossible to put down. I'd say it starts getting good around page 130.

    A Snowball Affect

So far up to page 33 of Brave Story, the protagonist Waturu, and his best friend Katchan snuck out at midnight and went to investigate a so called haunted house, because of the rumors being spread around their elementary school. While out on their investigation they run into two suspicious people, and their handy - caped daughter. They were nice, but Waturu thought they were hiding something, something that had to do with the girl.

Brave Story, by Miyuki Miyabe is a curious book. It is similar to a snowball, it starts out slow and dull, and then is starts to pick up as it goes along and builds up the story. It is a book that will create more and more questions, as you read further into it. It captures your thoughts. Although I enjoy the plot, there should be more of a description for both characters and scenery. I like books that give you a detailed description, but leave room for your imagination to fill in the rest. But this book does not provide enough of a detail to give your imagination to build off of.

    Heck yes!

This book really takes you on an adventure from the start. I love all the metaphors near the end...and that the margins sometimes contain his sword with the inlaid stones he accumulates on the way. Its a story of love, perseverance, and overcoming weaknesses. I. Loooove. This. Book.

    Just lovely

Told from the perspective of a child, with Stephen King worthy moments, this novel was a trip and had a great message.

    This is a great story

This is an excelletn story for any teen or adult that feels lost in ther life at any given moment. Fell like you have no purpose and everything is going wrong, you can take follow another's adventures in the other world and see how far you would get in that situation. I was able to put myself into the shoes of the main character and really enjoy the story.

    Long but good,

I got this just a few weeks ago and finished it. Its one of my favorite novels, but Its a novel that tells you about everything. Its also very long (816 pages), but after the slow start it picks up and holds you. It makes you believe you are in its fantasy world known as Vision. From the humor to the action its a great novel.
