Editorial Reviews

These four books in the What's for Lunch series provide simplified descriptions of the production, storage and transport, nutritional values, and uses of four important foods. Each has a brief discussion of the agricultural or poultry-raising techniques used. All contain excellent photographs and useful glossaries and indexes. In Peas the use of fungicides and insecticides is mentioned, and in Eggs the battery method of raising poultry is described. Neither book mentions the controversial sides of these topics, although the introduction of controversy is perhaps inappropriate at this level. (from the What's for Lunch? Series.) Acceptable, Grades 1-2. REVIEWER: Dr. Burton Kallman (retired)
