"The moment she woke up, her nightmare began..."

What would you do if you awakened to find a dangerous stranger in your house? In your bed, next to you? Now your home has become your prison, and your body, a battlefield. How would you hold onto your sanity, your self-esteem, your very soul against someone determined to annihilate all three?

In the psychological thriller BREAK HER, one woman will find herself in this almost unthinkable situation, and one man will discover that he has finally come up against someone unlike any of those he has destroyed before.

On the surface, this intruder has all the advantages: strength, weapons, ruthlessness. The only way he can lose is if he finds himself responding to his victim on a human level. The only way she can win is if she rips away the protective lies she’s told herself, the hard shell of indifference she’s hidden in, and becomes again what she has not been since she lost everything that mattered to her, years ago: human.

Warning: Includes graphic depictions of rape, sex, and violence and is for readers over the age of 18 only.

Reactions from Leading Literary Agents to BREAK HER:

“Your writing is powerful as ever here, but this is… extremely edgy…”

“…[T]he writing was excellent … the psychological interplay between the woman and the rapist gripping…. The battle is incredibly tense from the beginning, but, unfortunately, it’s just too graphic for us.”

“It has a remorseless grip and the writing is fluent and powerful…. I think it is in many ways a brave book… [but] most readers would recoil in horror [from the very idea of rape] and be affronted. Further the rapist himself is unusually potent and smart, and the story is not simply one of physical abuse but of an attempt to destroy someone.”

“This is unpublishable.”

Editorial Reviews

Goodreads - Pam Godwin
A masterpiece. A benchmark for psychological horror. Every once in a rare while, a book comes along that succeeds in all departments--characterization, narration, ideology, execution. One that's so skillfully woven, the end effect is an unforgettable and powerful experience. This is that rare book. ... Reading it, you will feel stimulated, horrified, and eventually, purged. Resist the urge to pass this up because it's too dark. This mind-blowing rabbit hole is worth it.
Romantic Reading Escapes Book Blog - Kathy Womack
Five Stars. This is a mind bending psychological thriller that contains malevolent and inhuman behaviors. ... This book drained me emotionally and twisted my mind and view of the world. The author presented me, the reader, with a gift of brilliance in the form of writing, even though the content was horrific and savage. Take caution before reading. You are entering the darkest zone you can possibly enter, and I dare say that this book will not leave me for a long while.
Swept Away By Romance - Elizabeth M
How do I put words to an experience that cratered my mind?? How do I reconcile the enormity of the hold this story has had (and, still has) on me with the near-constant cringing of my moral compass?! ... You will want to stop, and, at the same time, you won't. Unquestionably, there is genius storytelling at work here. ... [A] must-read for those who can handle it. ... The almost unnatural but awe-inspiring strength of this woman is the real triumph in this story. ... 5 Dark & Twisty Stars!!

good writing! The story was brutal, odd, weird, depraved, and awful (and so many more other adjectives). Did I like it? No. Do not know how I finished it.......it did take 3 or 4 times to pick it up and continue. And, the ending.....why even have an ending since it didn't explain what, why or who. Save your time and your money and skip this....cuz 90 per cent of the time the enormous verbiage meant NOTHING!!!!!!!

I read the reviews and then the book. Its basically a book about a women being raped the whole time. Now I understand that people are saying its a horrible book but in all honesty, I liked it. Yes, there is a lot of rape but it does have a story line to it.

This was so disturbing and hard to read at times, but the mind games were really something. Kept me intrigued and uncertain of what Her outcome was going to be. ** POSSIBLE SPOILER** Would love a book 2 to see where Her life takes her. Liked the book alot.

It took me a while to finally finish this book. The story was pretty slow and uneventful. The ending also left much to be desired.

This book was deep on all levels. It took me longer then usual to read it. I had to walk away rather close my nook because some parts were too much to bare. Both characters were so well developed that the book was believable on so many levels. This was a interesting and profound read.

Story about the mental and emotional discovery that takes by and between a tormentor and his captive. The story takes place over the course of two or three days of captivity and sexual assault during which the two characters manipulate each others feelings, reactions, thoughts and bodies to see who breaks first in this contest of physical and psychological survival. This is a well written story with graphic language that deals with mature themes.

This book is extremely well written and very very dark. Even though parts were hard to read I still found myself compelled to know the outcome of such a horrific assault of ones body and soul. I honly hope that there will be a second book to follow up on "her" story. Well done!
