Overview

Break Me is the second book in Amanda Heath’s Make or Break series. It can be read as a standalone.

“Wes, I don’t know what you want me to say here.” Royal’s voice is broken. Maybe he is broken. Maybe I broke him. Lord knows I’m broken myself.
“Don’t say anything,” I start off with. There are so many things I want to tell him. The one thing I want him to know, that I want him, I will never say aloud. “When push comes to shove Royal, you’ll break me. I’d never be the same after you. I’d be a shell of this girl.”
His face pales but he doesn’t step away. Something I had planned on. His hands caress my face before he says, “You have that wrong, Wesley. You’ll be the one to break me.”

Wesley Bridges was lost between the living and the dead. She was clinging to her boyfriend, who passed away unexpectedly. She was left with having no way to move on. Her best friends, Annabella and Pierce were too caught up in each other to save her. Even her family turned a blind eye, not able to bear her grief.

Then one day, Royal Sanders walked into her life. Tall, dark and sinfully handsome, but aren’t all the unattainable ones? At first it was nothing. She was asked to tutor him and found he’s different than even she thought. She even turned to Royal when things got too hard. And when she falls for him, she falls hard.

But Royal’s the enemy. A long drawn out hatred brews between her friends and Royal’s. That doesn’t seem important to her, considering she’s still in love with her dead boyfriend. A love triangle between life and death…who will win?

Grief is a powerful emotion but there are several different kinds of grief. Betrayal and heartache are still knocking on her door. Things are about to come crashing down around her. It will definitely break her, but will Royal be enough to save her?

This book broke my heart.  The prologue sets the stage- Wesley is reeling from the sudden loss of her boyfriend Trey.  They were each others world for the last two years – with plans of the future.
As she sinks further into depression the world continues to turn. She returns to school and goes through the motions until she can’t.
Going through all of the stages of grief with Wesley is devastating.  Her friends are so tuned out, her brother is so sweet and tries so hard to help. Everything is changing.
The growth that Wesley goes through is incredible.  She’s not perfect by any means.  She’s a teen for goodness sake.  And there are times she needs a good shake! I loved how they challenge each other, support and cheer for each other.
Now I loved Royal in Make Me. He is the epitome of man whore redeemed and made crazy in love.  Who wouldn’t love a swimmer/musician and is so passionate and protective?? Anyone?? *crickets*
Love how the characters use music to communicate with each other. Their relationship is so mature and realistic at times-yet so full of teen angst. And good gracious the teen drama that surrounds this story-whew!
The end of this story-holy hell!  Can.Not.Wait for book 3

I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review.
I gave this book 5 stars
This is book #2 in the Make or Break series
This is Wesley and Royal's story

Wes is trying to get over the recent death of her two year long boyfriend - Trey. While she is in her grieving state, her best friends are too consumed in themselves and each other to even notice that Wes is going down a path that could eventually kill her.

Royal Sanders is just a guy on the swim team who is failing his history class. Because of some family history between a close friend and Wes' cousin, he's constantly getting hateful glares and snarky comments from Wes' two best friends.

Wes and Royal eventually cross paths and fall hard for each other, but can Wes let go of Trey and get past the fact that she's falling in love with the enemy? Or will Wes choose her family over the one chance she has to save herself, and in the process hurt Royal?

This book taught me a lot about grief and letting go of hardships between family's. It also taught me how to confide in my family because really, no matter what, family will always be there. No matter the ups and downs or through the goods and the bad, they won't leave you behind.

This book deserves well above the 5 stars mark, but sadly I cannot grant a rating that high. Well worth the read, and so is the first book. I have many ideas of what's to come in the third book, and I am so excited for when it finally comes out! Thank you, for a truly amazing read.

Break Me (Make or Break #2) by Amanda Heath 4 out of 5 Stars I d

Break Me (Make or Break #2) by Amanda Heath
    4 out of 5 Stars
I don’t even know where to start with this review. Wesley Bridges is beyond broken, she’s hollow, raw, empty, and alone after the death of her boyfriend/best friend. Her friends Annabella and Pierce are so caught up in their own self-centeredness and high school drama that they abandon Wes in her darkest moments. Everyone but her brother Bentley refuses to reach into the pit of her despair to help her out, that is until she’s asked to tutor Royal Sanders. Being a history nut, Wes agrees not realizing that Royal just might be the one who will get down in the pit and actually lift her out rather than just offer a helping hand.
Full of other characters that you come to really like and some you’d like to knock some sense into, depending on which one your reading about, this book really has a well-rounded cast of people to keep it moving at a great pace!
My favorite person is Royal and here is why:
“You can push me all you want, girl, but I’m not going to run. I have a twin sister. I know how you teenage girls work. You want me to run so I’ll let you live alone in your misery, but that’s not going to happen. I won’t let you shrivel up and die, Wesley…You showed me a side of you that I don’t think anyone has ever seen. That means something to me, whether you like it or not. I’m here for you. Remember that always.”
I guess the reason it didn’t get a fifth star is because I couldn’t ever forget I was reading a book. For me what makes a book amazing is when I forget I’m reading and I just become another character or it’s like I’m watching it happen in real life. However, in Break Me Wesley actually talks to the readers sometimes, then in other parts you are just an observer, then in other parts you aren’t actually sure what perspective you are reading from. It’s not disconcerting or confusing, just it doesn’t allow you to forget that you are reading, at least it didn’t allow me to forget. Otherwise I truly enjoyed this book and really look forward to the next book in the Make or Break series!!!

    !

Well this book turns out to be a good continuation of this series. It doesnt pick up where Make Me ended but follows the story through Royal and Wesleys eyes. 141 pages long but the author milked every one of those pages for all they were worth.
