Overview

A National and International Bestselling Book!

Graduate student Katelyn Gunn is headed for her first day of assistant teaching when she is almost hit by a car. The nervous and inexperienced Kate is shocked to realize that it isn’t the near death experience that has her heart racing, but the sinfully sexy man behind the wheel. Adam Kinkade is ultra-wealthy, devastatingly handsome, and the most powerful distribution mogul in Chicago—he is also the first man who ignites emotions inside of her other than fear.

Adam is a man used to getting what he wants. And he wants Katelyn—naked and often. Willing to stop at nothing to possess her, he relentlessly peruses Kate only to discover that it is she who possesses him—completely.
Kate quickly realizes that Adam has secrets of his own, secrets dark enough to break the walls she keeps so firmly in place.

Passion turns to possession, and Adam’s controlling nature and seductive hands sparks a desire so strong, it destroys her own demons. But when desire turns to addiction, Kate fears that it will rage too hot, and shatter her sanity.

    Pretty good story.

It is about 150 nook pages, and had some emotional issues for both of the main characters. It was a nice quick read and can not wait to read next in the series about her best friend.
This story was pretty steamy as well!

This was my first introduction to Joya Ryan…and she did not disappoint! I was so hooked the moment they met that I finished this book in 3 hours. I couldn't put it down...

Break Me Slowly is steamy, intense, and wonderfully written with complicated and compelling characters. There were times my heart ached for both Adam and Kate, for what they went through and how they overcome their past to find love.

This book is for a mature audience as it explores the messy, complicated side of relationships and how sometimes you have to break completely to heal. And the sex scenes were unbelievably hot, not to mention Adam Kincaid is sexy as hell!

I can’t wait for the next book and I will definitely be reading more by Joya Ryan!!!

    Decent short read.

Let me first say I hate hearing book reviews comparing other similar books to each other and bashing an author stating she is trying to copy work. I have been reading all my life and let me just say; you can almost compare any books no matter what genera they are. There are going to be similarities so quit bashing these authors. With that said, I did like this book and I think this author did a good job in writing. I only gave it 3 stars because it has to be completely outstanding to me to give a 5 and I was just too short for my liking. I like longer stories that don’t feel rushed. The scenes were steamy and written well, I liked the characters etc., just wish there would have been more story to read.

    Ugh

    ## AWFUL. SPOILER ALERT: This guy Adam is a real winner. NOT. "If you want to speak to me, get down on your knees", he tells the heroine after she tracks him down at his office. Uh....not bloody likely would have been my response. But no, the heroine goes down on her knees after meeting this guy once. Later, after he takes her virginity, he sneaks off never to call her again. Once again, she chases after him. "I just miss him so much". Ugh, she was incredibly weak. I can't stand weak, feeble heroines. He insults her, throws her out and tells her flat out to get lost because he doesn't want her, yet she agrees to marry him that same day. Puh-leez, what universe is this guy living in? Have some pride lady and kick this guy to the curb.

Too rushed...didn't take the time to really develop the characters. Also, I felt that the story line was too close to that of Sylvia Day's Crossfire series. But for a free read it was ok.

    I couldn't put it down.

I read this book in one day. It is very 50 Shades like but with its own unique twist. The connection between Adam and Kate is electric and you cannot help but get sucked into the story. I had to buy the second book right after finishing this one. Steamy, hot sex scenes, a lot of emotion from battling past scars and such love and tenderness tucked in between makes this a must read. You won't regret it!

    YOWZA!

Hot alpha. Excellent read. Especially love that it was a finished novel, don't have to wait to see what happens. Anxious to start the next in the series, get Megan's HEA!

    Just OK

This book wasn't terrible or one that you put down after a few chapters, but it also lacked something. I think I just need more guts to the book.  I feel like it was missing something and wished it dove a little deeper inside the characters.  If you are looking for a quick, cheap read then i would say this is a good book to pass a couple days.  Just don't expect a book that will blow you away.

    Loved it

Even though it was only 150 pages, the story was well developed and you get a good backround of both characters, steamy sex scenes and HEA ending. Def rcommend it

Good enough to read the second (and possibly third)

This book was good, a bit short in my mind, but not at all a bad quick read. I like that the second book expands on characters introduced in this first novel.
