School Library Journal - School Library Journal
PreS-With their stylized retro illustrations and lively rhyming texts, these books work wonderfully for toddlers who are ready to graduate from simple board books to short stories. In Bath Day, a little girl and her dog play in an outdoor wading pool. In Breakfast Time, the tot plays with food while the pup licks up the spills. Both stories center on the youngster and her pet doing what they do best: exploring and having fun. The attractive and expressive illustrations feature a rosy-cheeked tyke and small black-and-white canine and create a nostalgic mood. The endpapers sport soap bubbles and hoses, and partially eaten breakfast fare and splatters, respectively. Great books for sharing one on one, and also for lap-time programs.-JoAnn Jonas, Carlsbad City Library, San Diego, CA Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
