This book makes you wonder where on earth Pope Benedict got his reputation as an aggressive and cruel man. It's full of nothing but spirituality; so far it seems to have no diatribes against married priests, contraception, or homosexuality whatsoever. It mainly calls the reader to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, though not in the offensive manner that some Protestant fundamentalists do this. The only problem I had with the book was that, as someone brought up a Protestant, I had difficulty relating to Benedict's exhortations to venerate Mary. But those seem to be very few in number, and of course a person who was born and raised Catholic would appreciate them much better.
