Overview

Fate is a Moreno Brothers spinoff series.

He ruled out attachments years ago. Then one day he crosses paths with a beautiful but pampered daddy's little princess. History has taught him one thing about women like her—steer clear.

She was starting over. She moved back to her home town, took a new job assignment, and left her past behind. For the first time in over eighteen months, she's even intrigued by a man—a sexy but cold and indifferent drill sergeant. Despite feeling drawn to him, she has no time to figure out his inexplicable aversion to her.

Then Fate steps in one night, forcing them together. There's a connection neither can refute, and they both consider giving into the undeniable attraction.

Fate however can also be cruel. Just when they surrender to their heart's desires, past demons resurface in the most unexpected way, threatening the happiness neither realized they so desperately needed.

    Great.

I wasn't exicted to read this book. I didn't connect with the male lead in her previous book. I'm soo glad I did. Wonderful!

I was excited to read this one, because I had a soft spot for Brandon. I felt that he was misunderstood and a bit broken. And I still like him after reading his book and I was glad that he found someone who loved him for him. It did take me a while to feel the chemistry between them though. I had trouble connecting with Regina initially and I think that's why. I just didn't see it right away. Eventually, I felt like the story picked up a bit and I started to enjoy them. I loved the tie in with the Moreno's. I would go as far to say that those were my favorite scenes. Overall, I did enjoy it, but not as much as I had hoped.

Breaking Brandon is the second novel in Elizabeth Reyes Fate Ser

Breaking Brandon is the second novel in Elizabeth Reyes Fate Series.  I haven't read the first novel in the series, yet still thoroughly enjoyed Breaking Brandon, so this could really be considered more of a companion novel, though I do plan to go back and read book one.  We originally met Brandon in Sweet Sofie, book three in The Moreno Brothers Series.  Don't worry if you haven't read that yet though, because Elizabeth Reyes recaps what happened and what is relevant to this story.  Brandon thought he loved Sofie, and when she rejected him, that combined with his abusive relationship with his father, his father's death, and the subsequent loss of his mom, caused him to choose to turn into a hard, cold man who chose not to have attachments of any kind, a motto which he had lived by for years.  Now a Drill Instructor in the Marines, he finds himself transferring back to California, not far from his old neighborhood in La Jolla, somewhere he never thought he'd go again.  Regina Brady is also moving back home to California to start over, recovering from a tragic loss herself.  When Brandon first sees her in the airport, he overhears her phone conversation, notices how beautiful and how well-dressed she is, and immediately he can't stand her, labeling her a daddy's girl, a spoiled rich little princess.  He's even madder at himself because he can't seem to quit looking at her or get her out of his mind, and it brings up memories of feelings he once had for a girl, as well as a time he'd tried to forget.

The subsequent relationship that develops between them is intense, passionate, and takes them both completely by surprise.  They are both such broken individuals with pasts that have caused them to have more in common than they realize.   They both experience joy and begin to share bits and pieces of their pain, but when events turn serious and the past collides with the present like a head-on collision, they have to decide if what they have together is worth overcoming the obstacles of their past, and the obstacles that they face presently.

Breaking Brandon is a beautiful story about two incredibly broken individuals living life behind a mask who gradually learn to remove the mask and peel back the layers of pain to find love, healing, and acceptance.  It is romantic, has some very steamy scenes, as well as some very tragic and heartbreaking ones.  The books is fast paced and kept my attention, and the plot intriguing.  The story is told from both Brandon and Regina's points of view, alternating chapters.  Breaking Brandon is a great contemporary romance and is something I would definitely recommend to fans of that genre.

    Intersecting storylines

Loved the Moreno Brothers series and I love how this novel was able to tell a wonderfully independent story yet offer us a glimpse of our favorite past characters. Also, love the storyline showcasing two flawed souls who make sense together. Good read.

Breaking Brandon by Elizabeth Reyes Fate Series Book 2 Brandon B

    Breaking Brandon by Elizabeth Reyes
    Fate Series Book 2
Brandon Billings was a cold young man. Growing up with an abusive unloving dad and being rejected by the one girl he thought really cared for him, had Brandon shutting down every emotion. He made a great drill instructor in the Marines. His rule? No attachments. Ever. His plan had worked just fine for all these years and then came her.

Regina Brady needed to start over and try to move on. Beginning with moving back to California and being near her family again. Of course, they thought she was tough and could handle everything thrown her way. If only they knew, but they never would. And wouldn't if figure that the first man that has caught her attention since the incident, looks at her with such great passion. Unfortunately that passion is pure hate.

If you have read the Moreno Series, you would have met Brandon in Sweet Sofie. He grabbed the heart of this reader back then already. The kid who seemed like a bully, but was really just lonely and had a bad home life. It's great to see Brandon get his own story after all. I really enjoyed Breaking Brandon, Elizabeth Reyes has outdone herself once again. This book was full of surprises.
