Playboy billionaire Braydon Decker changes women more often than designer ties. Scarred and humiliated as a teenager, he pledged long ago to never trust a beautiful woman again. But then he never imagined meeting one quite like Jain Parker.

Jain, a dedicated medical research scientist, learned early in college that her good looks were a hindrance and she'd have to tone down her beauty to be taken seriously, thus, Plain Jain was born, and men were no longer an issue. Of course, she didn't count on running into Braydon Decker.

A successful venture capitalist, Braydon holds the key to whether Jain's research company sinks or swims. When the two are forced to work together on a fundraising campaign, they're instantly drawn to one another, despite their individual vows to remain unattached. As they navigate unchartered waters, their inability to trust wages war with their desire to love.

Hearts are broken and trust is shattered when betrayal and lies are revealed. Will the truth bring them healing and forgiveness, or will it be too late?

Breaking Braydon offers readers an emotional, compelling story filled with heartwarming humor, romance, heartbreak and love.

Meet the Author

MK has always been a voracious reader. After hitting a dry spell of reading material, she decided to write the kind of book she'd like to read. This resulted in the creation of her debut novel, Intentional. (Award for Best Sweet Romance - eFestival of Words- August 2014)

Unintentional, the second book in the series, is based on the life of one of the characters in Intentional. Unintentional was written as a stand-alone book.

Breaking Braydon, another stand-alone book, is now available for pre-sale. Release date is January 24th, 2015

When she's not writing novels, she likes to spend her free time traveling the world, splashing in mud puddles (She lives in Seattle, what can she say?), watching movies and reading (!)

MK also runs her own business in her current hometown of Mercer Island, Washington.

She LOVES to hear from her readers!

Looking for something that will expand your vocabulary (& emotions)? This one has it! Ms. Harkins' has you feeling every emotion possible in this book! Check it out, you will not regret it! There is passionate love, intense heart-break, sweet romance. This is such a beautiful story. I recommend to anyone/everyone that wants to read something deeper, more intense, than just an easy read!

This book starts off like the typical billionaire falls for unremarkable girl story but quickly turns into a deeper tale of trust, forgiveness, and learning to accept yourself for who you are. Braydon struggles with trusting others while Jain struggles with trusting herself and how others will view her. When they come together, sparks fly as those intense personalities and struggles mesh. Wonderfully romantic and perfectly written as I've come to love from MK Harkins.

I have to admit something: I am so totally over the billionaire playboy plot. I’m starting to wonder if I should stop reading them all together because I’m not sure that I give the book a fair shake because I am just so sick of the plot line. But, I like to think I can give a book a fair shake even if the plot is tired, so I forged on! Jain is, well, plain. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. She realized early on that her looks were hindering her, so she became plain on purpose in order to be taken more seriously, especially in the world of medical research where she’s working to find a cure for ALS. When she meets billionaire Braydon, she is blindsided by her feeling of an instant connection to him. And he feels the same. But he holds the key to her future in her career. Can she give that much to one man and not come out hurt again? They grow closer and realize their desires, but can they hold it all together when someone is threatening to tear them apart? Ok, so Braydon…been there done that. But that aside, I really liked Jain. The spelling of her name I found to be a bit annoying, but I can put that aside. Also, be warned that his is a clean romance, so no sex. I repeat, no sex. That isn’t an automatic kiss of death for a book because, let’s face it, it gives a lot of space to develop an actual plot, which this book manages to do quite well. I liked the chemistry between Jain and Braydon and thought that the romance was very sweet between them. But, I think I reached a point where the sweetness was just a complete overload and it definitely veered into cheesetown for me. The end, especially, I found it hard to get through. Completely predictable and just a little barf-inducing. This wasn’t a very original storyline once it got to a certain point and I found that tough to get past. Overall, I liked the characters quite a bit, and I liked that Jain is a strong woman. But, the plot and cheese factor were just a bit too much to overcome for me. So, I give it 3 stars. A MUST-READ For True Romantics!!! I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by M.K. Harking and it will definitely not be my last! This was a wonderful, clean romance full of twists and turns to keep you rooting for Jain and Braydon till the last page! Sex is implied, not explicit! No profanity just pure emotional romance and heartache as well as the hope of love to overcome all odds! Everything about this book was a delight from the supporting cast of characters to the furry little scratching and biting pets! I highly recommend this book for people who love honest and true soul-crushing romance!!

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.     This was a quick read that satisfied my book craving for the genre it's in.  The characters were well written as well as the story. The plot was laid out well. There was the build up to find out what happened to both the characters and Jain's job. The story took me through different emotions to empathize with both Jain and Braydon,  but it wasn't too emotionally heavy. This book did everything that a good book should make you feel by the time you're done reading it.  This is the type of book I like to read in between a long series that I'm reading because it's a  quick and light read.     I've read all of M.K. Harkins' books so far and none have disappointed. I look forward to reading her future works.

Breaking Braydon  is romantic and heartbreaking.  It’s a story of overcoming our past and learning to trust.   Jain hides her beauty to be taken seriously as a person and as a scientist.  She is passionate and driven in her research for a cure for ALS known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease”.   This cause and cure are very personal to her.  When she finds out that her Medical facility has lost their funding and may have to shut down, they desperately start researching options.   Billionaire Braydon is a venture capitalist and doesn’t have time for another project.  Until he meets Jain and her team and decides on the spot he can help her/them.   I loved the scene where they first meet and he listens to what she is saying.   Sparks fly as they start working together.  Each has issues from their past.  She feels her beauty caused people to use her.  Braydon’s issues cause him to only date beautiful women and usually for less than 6 hours.  His reputation is so well known that there is rumor of the $100,000 contest for the woman who gets him to fall in love with her.   The secondary characters added more depth and entertainment to the story.  Colin, her best friend and co-worker was an awesome friend.  Todd is Braydon’s best friend and hopefully the hero in the next story.   You can see my full review at More Than a Review dot com where I rate the level of sex, violence, language and drug/alcohol use in books.
