I had never heard of this particular preacher/author before so I took a chance. Unfortunately, while his writing was inspirational on certain points, I was unable to continue reading after he made a point that deppresion was the result of sin & repenting would heal, anxiety & OCD was also mentioned as the results of sin, parents passed curses of health issues to their children through their sins of the past. Then, once he started with homosexuality being immoral & something chosen & worthy of repenting, I could not continue. I have been searching for my own spiritual path & have had problems with mental health issues. I cannot believe that someone who is, I believe, supposed to heal & help people looking for spirituality could simplify difficult health issues down to just repenting or stop sinning, as if it is that easy...then to judge people based on sexual preference...where is the "christianity", the judge not lest you be judged?? I don't believe this book would be helpful to those who are truely looking for answers to spiritual questions. It may only be a way for those who are lucky enough to be healthy & accepted to judge & prove their superiority against those that they do not believe or live as they do.
To the previous review; this is NOT Christian, at least the true Biblical Christ and VERY unfortunately, the worst obstacle to Christ are Christians like the author of this book. Besides finding a translation of the Bible that you enjoy (modern ones such as NIV, The Message or NKJV perhaps) I would recomend Philip Yancys "Where is God When it Hurts"and "What' So Amazing About Grace?" and Brendan Manning "The Ragamuffin Gospel". And take comfort in knowing Jesus LOVES YOU and your illnesses, weaknesses and shortcomings (and not just yours, but EVERYONE's) are NO suprise to Him, and He STILL loves you fiercely. Jesus says MANY times that he came to save the sick and HE is the great physician and and I will pray for you as you are seeking; and that God will put you in the care of a wise Christian doctor who can help with mental health issues. God bless you!
