Overview

A sadistic husband left Beth scarred, inside and out. Only at the Shadowlands BDSM club does she feel like a woman. But her fears limit her to Doms who won't overwhelm her--the very ones who cannot arouse her. The Master of the Shadowlands gives her an ultimatum: accept the Dom he assigns or lose her membership. The last thing Beth wants is a ruthless, powerful Dom, but that's just what she gets.

Asked to take on a problem sub, Nolan sees the issue immediately--although truly submissive, the little redhead is too scared to relinquish control and her Doms have let her get away with it. That will change right now.

As Master Nolan takes Beth under command, compelling her submission, she's terrified, but the experienced Dom brings her pleasure, not pain. His only demand is that she never lie to him. Under his capable hands, her body comes alive, and she begins to heal. As he pushes her limits, she learns to trust…and then to love. And she realizes he is beginning to care for her in return.

But now her cruel husband has found her, and Master Nolan discovers she's been lying and lying and lying.

Meet the Author

Having to wear glasses in elementary school can scar a person for life. Dubbed a nerd at an early age, Cherise Sinclair has been trying to live up to the stereotype ever since. And what better way than being an author?

Known for writing deeply emotional stories, the USA Today Bestselling Author has penned seventeen erotic romance novels, most with a BDSM theme. (Please do not mention the phrase mommy porn in her presence.) Her awards range from a National Leather Award to a Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice nomination to a GoodReads BDSM group award for best author of the year. Called an “ascendant erotica queen” by Rolling Stone Magazine, Cherise spends her days writing, supervised by a sadistic calico cat.

    An enjoyable read

I came across Sinclair when searching for something fun to read and I've slowly been buying all her books. Since shifting over to ebooks, the biggest issue I've had is with the editing. There's no excuse for not proofreading ANY book before publication. So far, this has not been a problem with any of her stories. Massive bonus points and gold stars at my end and why I seek her out. That said...

    Why I enjoy her books:

Character development: if you have a chance to read more than one of her stories in a series, she does an excellent job creating her characters, including the back stories. Her characters are warm, funny, very human.

The kink: The kink and the sex are fantastic. If this type of thing is not your cup of tea, then don't buy this book, but if it is, you will enjoy it. The raging battle that goes on inside the sub's head is spot on and the dom/mes are entertaining and wicked in all the right ways.

Why buy this book? Buy this book if you don't mind/enjoy kink and want to read a book with excellent character development and hot sex. Buy this book if you found 50 Shades of anything to be boring and pedantic. Oh heck, just buy the damn book. Totally worth the six bucks. I've already loaned several of her books to a male sub and he adores them despite the focus on Mf relationships.

    I'm not really sure

This is book 3 in the series. As usual excellent writing and story telling. Character development for hero, heroine & support incredible. You feel like you really know them. I Love she keeps characters from book 1 & 2 in the story. My only issue for a 3 and not 4 was a scene in beginingish of book. After 2nd night of Nolan being Beth's dom he sends her home. Knowing she is not ready for sex. That being said he stays at the club. He watches Cullen top the sub Sally. Cullen invites him to join at the end. Watching how Nolan & Beth's relationship was going I HATED reading him having sex with Sally. It is probably me personally but knowing Nolan will be with Beth & really feeling for all she has been through I wasn't going to finish the book. To make it worse the next night Nolan comes to see Beth being topped by another dom. The book descibed the mean dom "pounding in to her from behind", she was red from him spanking her. She was white knucked & just taking in. That made no sense. That dom was jusy as scary as Nolan & far meaner to her. I then decided this would be my last book. After this the book got sooo good. It was like the last 2 scenes never to place. And because of that could have been left out. I felt like Nolan cheated on her. And no way little rabbit would put herself through that. And I don't belive Z would have let her hurt herself like that. Or would Z allow a dom in his club abuse a sub like that. And knowing she was not aroused but what he did is just that. If those 2 scenes were left out this would have been a 5 and by far the best in the series so far. They are my fave couple so far. Nolan the best master. I'll try bk 4 which is Cullan.

    Want this book - but!!!!

I have enjoyed many of Cherise's books, but all of those I have read have been on my Nook. B&N's website used to let people request a book that was paperback only in ebook format. Don't know why this option is no longer available!!!!

    WOW! Page turner

Loved this book! took a chance buying it and it was worth it. Yes the bdsm is detailed but the whole story kept me wanting to read more. I got caught up in Beth's fear, excitement and finally giving in to her fears. She's strong but fragile, open but not. Loved it!. So going to start from the beginning. What a ride!

Great read, couldn't put it down!

Both main characters are a work in progress in life, and both work so well together. One shows patience and compassion, the other the willingness to give love one more try, even if she needs a little prodding or flogging... : ) Master Nolan proves to be a good guy with a lot of patience and love once he all the cards are on the table.

Not as good as the other books in this series

THE MAIN CHARACTERS WERE NOT LIKABLE OR DID I HAVE ANY COMPASSION FOR THEIR SITUATIONS. IT WAS VERY HARD TO GET EMOTIONAL WITH BETH OR NOLAN. THEY SEEMED ONE DIMENSIONAL, AND SEEMED SUPERFICIAL. I NEVER CONNECTED WITH THEM.

I really enjoyed reading Nolan and Beth's story. They both were flawed, but were able to overcome their pasts with each others help. I am enjoying this series by Cherise!

    Another hot and sexy story!

I really love this series and have enjoyed Nolan and Beth's story. Nolan is a dom regular at the club and Beth is a submissive new to the club. Each having their own pasts but coming together as the chemistry between them is off the charts. Cherise Sinclair did a great job of telling their story and keeping the reader interested from the very beginning. I highly recommend this series and this book as well. If you like erotic with a heavy dose of BDSM then you will love these books!
