Editorial Reviews

CM Magazine
"Choyce's writing style is clear and concise...The hi-low format—with its emphasis on plot, action, short chapters, and large font—assures that teens reading below grade level can easily follow the story's fast pace."
Resource Links
"Students who are less independent or struggling readers will appreciate the language and length of this text...Recommended for school and public libraries who want to add a survival story to their hi-lo collection."
Southwestern Ohio Young Adult Materials Review Group
"A good adventure story. The writing is clear, and he doesn't drag out the adventure sections with too much description of actions and details."
Tri State YA Book Review Committee
"Fast-paced and well-written...Will appeal to many young and reluctant readers."
Tacoma Public School District
"This book has a realistic feel and is a quick, fun recommendation for reluctant readers."
Children's Literature - Miranda McClain
The shores of Nova Scotia are beautiful to be sure but they can also be deadly. And that is exactly what Cameron and Brianna realize as they make their daring escape from Camp Mosher. Camp Mosher is not your average camp and Cameron and Brianna are not your typical Canadian teens. It is a juvenile detention camp and they are convicted criminals, but still just kids under their tough exteriors. Brianna is reckless and self-destructive and Cameron gets caught up in her crazy scheme to kayak their way to freedom. Unfortunately, they make their desperate attempt right on the brink of a hurricane and since neither are experienced kayakers they end up putting their lives on the line. On a journey that will test their courage and survival skills they learn the true meaning of trust and the real cost of freedom. Even readers without a criminal record will be able to relate to the need to follow your dreams in the midst of extreme struggle and will find themselves rooting for the two runaway's to make it.
