Denver journalist Natalie Benoit and Deputy U.S. Marshal Zach McBride find themselves captives of a bloodthirsty Mexican drug cartel. Working together, they escape through the desert toward the border, the attraction between them flaring hotter than the Sonoran sun. Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Clare's fifth I-Team novel (after Naked Edge) sizzles with constant adventure and romance. U.S. Marshal Zach McBride is the unwilling guest of Mexican drug lords when he meets another prisoner, American journalist Natalie Benoit. The two join forces to escape and make their way across the treacherous Mexican desert toward the U.S. border. Their romance and mutual attraction develop as they share their unhappy life stories and dodge their enemies in one harrowing encounter after another. Natalie's initial fragility is juxtaposed against Zach's stalwart nature as he helps unearth her hidden strengths and she encourages him to listen to his heart. Complex characterizations and a fast-paced plot filled with sensual romance and mystery make this a highly enjoyable read for newcomers and series fans alike. (May)

    Another HIT for the I-TEAM

I loved this book from cover to cover! I totally wish I had a rating for above 5 cause this book would deserve it. Breaking Point is nonstop action, just when you think they were done....there is more. The action parts put you on the edge of your seat, the love scenes were HOT, and I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what would happen next. I laughed, had a giggle or two, I was upset a time or three and shed several tears. It was great to see our old friends from the other I-Team books, it was like catching up with old friends, and meeting new ones.

The best yet of the I-Team series...and that's saying something!

It's no secret that I'm a huge Pamela Clare fan. In her new I-Team novel (to be released May 3, but I was lucky enough to get an early peek) the magic is back and hotter than ever.
Natalie, who's always been somewhat reserved and quiet, explodes to the forefront when she's captured while visiting Mexico. And then she meets Zach. ~dreamy sigh~ Pamela writes some of the hottest men around and Zach is no exception. He's going to give the rest of the I-Team guys a run for their money.
Natalie is kidnapped by a drug cartel currently running amok in Mexico and taken to a compound to be held until further notice. Some of her past comes back to haunt her as she's trapped in a dingy cell, only to hear a voice in the darkness which becomes her lifeline. Together they have to figure out a way to break out of this compound and escape across the desert back into the US.
The voice belongs to Zach MacBride and Natalie has to decide if he's one of the good guys or bad guys. Then she has to decide if the answer to that question really matters since he's the only one who can get her safely back home.
The majority of the previous Heroes and Heroines make an appearance and the action is HOT. Both the suspense and the *other* type of action.
I can't recommend this book enough.

    an action-packed romantic thriller

Hurricane Katrina killed reporter Natalie Benoit's family and fiancé Beauregard Latour. She relocated to Denver to start anew away from the mentally crippling memories.

Natalie attends a convention hosted by the American State Department and the Society of Professional Journalists in the Mexican border town Cuidad Juarez. However, the Zetas drug cartel kidnaps her. The low volume voice of encouragement in the dark of another prisoner gives her the fortitude to carry on. Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Zach McBride was sold out by an Interpol agent, but manages to get them out of the incarceration. Now they must flee across a desert while a raging kingpin and his minion chase them with one objective kill the journalist and the Fed.

The latest I Team romantic suspense (see Unlawful Contact and Naked Edge) is an action-packed thriller that grips the audience from the moment the tour bus is attacked by members of the Zeta cartel and never slows down as the vicious killers stalk the lead couple. The key is that Zach's clam inner strength and SEAL training helps Natalie adapt from frightened victim to courageous heroine as the attraction is always there but takes a back seat to the great escape.

    Couldn't Put it Down!

Another home run for Pamela Clare and her I-Team series! This may well have the most action of all of the stories and arguably the hottest couple! Natalie and Zach sizzle! Thrown together in an unimaginably horrible situation, they work together to escape, their survival depending on one another as they make their way across one of the most dangerous stretches of land in North America. The book was so exciting that I literally read it in two sittings and the only reason I put it down at was to eat and sleep. Highly recommended.

    A Must-Read

As a fan of historical fiction Pamela Clare is the author who was able to turn me on to romantic suspense. I have read all the I-Team novels and have to say that this is another immediate classic. "Breaking Point" has it all: suspense, super-hot romance, a sexy, alpha-hero and a heroine who is intelligent and strong. I love the storyline, which you can read in the synopsis and other reviews. I just want to add that Pamela Clare has an amazing talent for making characters and events real in a way that won't let you put the book down. Trust me. You will love this story!

    Highly recommended

Denver journalist Natalie Benoit is in Cuidad Juarez on her way to a journalistic convention, when she is taken hostage by a Mexican drug cartel and held captive in the middle of the desert. There, she meets another prisoner, Chief Deputy US Marshall Zach McBride, who occupies the cell next to hers. Together they will try to escape and to find their way back to the USA, fleeing across the Mexican desert. Zach and Natalie both have suffered and have a hard time overcoming past grief and angst. As their mutual attraction develops, they will find a reason to start living life again. I can't recommend Breaking Point (or any other book in the I-Team series) enough. It's a fast paced, gripping story with sizzling romance, a real page-turner that kept me on the edge of my seat. Pamela Clare has a way of bringing her H/h to life so that you soon forget it's fiction. I was drawn inside the story, caring for Zach and Natalie from the moment I met them, following them on their way to freedom, fearing for their safety. I shed a tear (or three), laughed, shuddered and cheered when the bad guys were brought down.
Marc, Julian and Gabe (from the previous books in the I-Team series) play their part in rescuing Natalie, and it was a real pleasure to see them - a bit like seeing old friends again.

Must read for all Rom/Suspense fans!!

Pamela Clare has done it again. Breaking Point, the 5th book in her amazing I-Team series, is an absolute must read. The action is non-stop, it grabbed me from the first chapter and I couldn't put the book down. Zach and Natalie are 2 characters trying to overcome past pain, angst and hurt and together they find a way to start living life again. Pamela Clare is an auto-buy author for me, and as a fan of romantic suspense stories, her I-Team series is THE series I compare all other books to. Breaking Point is a fantastic edition and will be another book that gets reread many times.

    Best book of the year

I know it's only the first quarter of 2011 but I feel confident saying that if you only buy one book this year, it should be Breaking Point.

    Loved it!

After reading books by Lori Foster, Cindy Gerard, Cherry Adair, and Lisa Marie Rice, I was very pleased to find another great author of their caliber. Breaking Point had a perfect balance of fast paced action and romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the others in this series.

    Captivating Suspense Thriller

Natalie's and Zach's story. From Ciudad Juarez, Mexico to Denver, Colorado, the action is non-stop as Natalie and Zach try to figure out who is out to harm her. This story keeps you enthralled as the I-team past and present with their spouses investigate to find the answers before time runs out for Natalie.

    Wow

    ## Amazing! This book was awesome. Natalie and zach were perfect for each other. This is book five in the series and they are all worth reading. The suspense was tremendous and hot sex never hurts! I love the way the author includes the characters from previous books so entirely. Ms. Claire knows how to wrap up a story perfectly. Her endings leave you completely satisfied! I hope there are more to come

    Loved it!

I'm a big fan of reading anything that has to do with black ops, navy seals, etc. This book did not disappoint, filled with action and love scenes in between. Loved the main characters. The story flowed well and kept me entertained. This is my first book by this author and surely won't be my last.

Another amazing story from Pamela Clare!

Books like Breaking Point are the reason Pamela Clare is my favorite Romantic Suspense author. Yes, I know I sound like a broken record, but it's true, and this latest installment of the I-Team series only further solidifies her place of honor in this genre. The story is action packed from the first page to the last and once again I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next, and once that was revealed, how they'd ever be able to get out of it. And when I say my heart was pounding and my hands trembling while reading this story, I'm not exaggerating. I won't go into the plot, other than to say that the dedication gives us more insight into the depth of Breaking Point than the cover blurb ever could: "This book is dedicated to the memory of the hundreds of murdered and missing women of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. You were brutalized and discarded like you didn't matter. But the earth received your tears, your blood, your bones, and, like a bereaved mother, the earth itself cries out for justice. May the violence end and those who stole your bodies and your lives be held to account." With all of Pamela's novels we are given stories we can believe in, causes we can champion, and if Breaking Point is any different at all, it's only in that the underlying truth the story is founded on is so heartbreaking. And while it's true that there are hundreds of missing and murdered women whose names we'll never know, we know of them, and they live on through Pamela's writing. They are not forgotten. Now, as those of us I-Team fangirls know, this wouldn't be a Pamela Clare novel without a gorgeous, passionate, hotter-than-hell hero and Zach MacBride fits that bill perfectly, giving us plenty of burn-up-the-pages sexy goodness! Both he and Natalie Benoit are incredibly strong people, inside and out, and they had to be in order to survive the physical and emotional hell they're put through in this book. While Breaking Point has one of the most intense, exciting endings I've ever read in a romantic suspense novel, it is also filled with memorable and heartwarming moments. One of my favorites from this book also takes place towards the end when we get a candid, touching glimpse into the depth of the friendship formed between Marc and Julian, a couple of I-Team heroes from previous books. It seriously brought tears to my eyes. If you haven't yet read this series, you're really missing out on some incredible stories. They'll enlighten you, entertain you, make you laugh, sigh and fan yourself, and they might even move you to tears, but most importantly, you'll finish the book knowing that what you read was well worth your time. And who knows, you might even be inspired to take a look around and see what you can do, no matter how small it might seem, to make someone's life a little better. To make a difference.
