Meet the Author

Linda Johnson was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Northbrook, a suburb of that great city. She attended University of Illinois, where she received a bachelor's degree in Advertising. She worked at several large ad agencies in Chicago, ultimately as a corporate media director.

When the cold and gray of Chicago got to be too much, she and her husband, Brian, packed up their dogs and horses and relocated to sunny and warm North Carolina. After working for several years as the owner and manager of a hunter/jumper equestrian facility, Linda decided to trade riding for writing.

She writes suspense novels and short stories and particularly enjoys creating smart, psychopathic villains.

    Simple Story - Unexpected ending

This is a simple story of domestic abuse and how one young female officer dealt with it. This is a short story with a surprise ending. I would have preferred a longer story with plot turns, surprises and a clever ending. But that's just me!

The ending was a bit rushed.

SHE KILLED SOMEBODY WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT!!! That makes her a murderer. She is a cop and she killed someone. Great story but she should really think things through. Some innocent person might get blamed for her crime. Kate is definitely a person who acts before she thinks. Still an awesome story though.

A short story, but well written. I think every abused person should read this. It speaks well of domestic situations. It can be read between commercials, while preparing a meal, or just before bedtime, or anytime you have a few minutes. Like I said, a short story, but it can do so much for women in that situation, just to know that someone cares.

    About 34 pages of story

This short has 34 actual pages. It is a good story but I do not think police offficers should make their own justice. I understand why the police woman did it, I just don't approve.

    Great ending

I didn't see that ending coming! I wish the story had been longer. It felt a bit rushed. The wife admitted the truth much too soon. The husband was appropriately evil. Overall this was a good quick read and Iwill look for more from this author.

    Very good

The ending surprised me, I love that. I expected it to drag with a lot of back and forth trying to hang the bastard. I think the length was perfect and I woulda bailed if it had longer and dragged.
