Overview

"If you're looking for a romance filled with action, turf wars, hot bikes, and even hotter men, look no further, because Breathing His Air has it all. Rain is the ultimate dominant hero. No one does alpha quite like Debra Kayn!" --M. Malone, bestselling author of One More Day (The Alexanders)

She is love advice in a coffee shack, he's protection in a biker bar. When her past meets his present, it's a killer cocktail that might get them shot, stabbed, or otherwise dead.

Tori Baldwin spends all her time traveling the states, running a mobile coffee shack, and handing out love advice with every cup. She's staked her rig in the parking lot of Cactus Cove--a local biker bar by all appearances--and plans to stay put for three months. Just long enough to make some money, without making any friends, before she moves to her next destination as she tries to stay ahead of a painful past.

Rain Brookshire is the leader of the Bantorus motorcycle club, and owner of the Cactus Cove in the small town of Pitnam, Washington. He wants the Lagsturns, a rival-bad-news motorcycle club, to leave town before they infect his town with trouble.

With bullets flying and the Lagsturns putting on the pressure, the only way to keep Tori safe--since she refuses to leave town--is for Rain to claim her as his woman. She has no idea that Rain's played his hand for all to see in the biker world. It doesn't help that Tori exhibits the three ideal classifications of his ideal woman--Classy, Sexy, and a total Goof--and he can't help but posture and lay down the law. But, when it appears Tori's life is in danger, and the Lagsturns are innocent, he isn't going to let the law stop him from keeping his woman safe.

It's been a while since a book kept me awake reading late into the night. I did just that with this book. I couldn't wait to find out what happens next. This is a story of opposites attract, Tori who never stays in one place for long, running from her past, and Rain who is the leader of the Bantorus motorcycle club. It's full of passion, suspense, a bit of mystery and hot alpha men and what they will do to protect what is theirs. A friend recommended this book to me and I'm glad I took her advice. I'm officially hooked on this series and author.

Breathing His Air was my first "motorcycle club" book,

Breathing His Air was my first "motorcycle club" book, and now I definitely know what I've been missing. I will be the first to say that I know next to nothing about the culture, but I do know that in this story I learned a lot. These men and women were more than members of a motorcycle club, they were family. The respect and care they have for one another was so admirable. I know that I will definitely be reading more books like this in the future.

Breathing His Air centered around Tori and Rain, two people who seem like they are complete opposites, but who are completely right for one another. Tori is a woman who is running from memories of a troubled past. She moves from town to town with her mobile coffee shack, offering up love advice along with the coffee she sells. Tori was a really sweet character, and was easy to like. I think what I enjoyed most about Tori was her silliness. It's not that she was a ditz or couldn't take anything seriously, it's that she could find the humor in most situations. I tend to be like that myself, so I could identify with her a lot in that way. Tori's childhood was very strange and very traumatic, and this causes her a lot of issues too, making her consistently feel like she's trouble for those around her. It takes a lot of continual convincing from Rain for her to stay, and that she is wanted. Insecure Tori could get a bit tiring after a while, so it was nice that she managed to shake it off most of the time and be the sweet and fun Tori.

As for Rain? Holy geez, this guy was a Super Alpha. Now, I know there are those who don't like the alpha men, and that's cool. But if you do like sexy, bossy, and take control men in your books, then Rain Brookshire should definitely please. I love how he just claimed Tori as his woman (for her protection) and there was no discussion. The way he talked to her, with a bossy yet very sexy tone, gave me shivers. Tori definitely held her own against Rain, though, and drove him absolutely bananas at times! Their chemistry was hot and I was anxious for them to take act of that chemistry. Believe me, I would not have liked Rain if he was a jerk or acting out of anything less than a caring and protective nature. I like my men bossy, but I also like them nice. The author did a really great job of portraying Rain as a man who takes his responsibility toward his club, the town, and everyone around him very seriously, and it's clear that he is a good man. That's not to say that Rain doesn't totally enjoy having the gorgeous Tori in his care, he does. The two head towards love very quickly, and it did seem a bit rushed, but I really didn't care. It fit them.

Breathing His Air was not only the love story between Rain and Tori, but it was also had some suspense too. At the beginning of the story, a rival club has come to town, and they start off on a really bad foot, by threatening Tori. As the trouble keeps coming, Rain and his group start to realize that the threats are not only towards them, but also are targeting Tori. Not only are they causing trouble, but so is Rain's ex-girlfriend, who wants him back in a bad way. Who is threatening Tori? And why? It seems like a no-brainer, but the author did a good job of sort of leading in one direction, then realizing that maybe things aren't as obvious as they seem.

Breathing His Air was a fast, sexy, and fun read. If your looking for a story with a sweet heroine, a sexy hero, and a bit of a mystery, this might be a great fit.

    Not sure why

Had potential but Rain frequently stepped from strong alpha male WAY over into overcontrolling-reacting-instead-of-responding behavior....and Tori put up with it, actively encouraged it. Has sweet moments (more like seconds) but HOURS of nonsensical internal and external dialogue. Deleting the book and writing off the almost $5 as a stupid tax.

It has been a while since a book as so thoroughly captured my attention that I seriously couldn't stop reading it. I even caught myself wanting to turn the page because I had to know what happened and trying to turn it ahead of time just to make sure that everything was ok. Luckily my will power was strong and I never jumped ahead, so that I could savor every page. Breathing His Air stole my heart almost from page one and kept my attention all the way to the end. I waited a few days to write this review because I felt like my emotions were flying high and I wanted to see just how I felt a couple of days later. I LOVE this book, I found myself going back through the book, looking for certain passages that I just had to read again. Kayn did an excellent job of keeping me on my toes while I read the book, not really knowing what might happen next. There were a couple of parts that were predictable, but that didn't matter and definitely didn't detract from the book. I felt like I rode an emotional roller coaster with Rain and Tori juggling from being happy when they were happy and being afraid for them when danger happened. I have to admit that I was a little reluctant to read this book, but after reading two other books by Kayn first, I felt comfortable with her writing style and wanted to read more. ......Then Kayn threw me for a loop with this book. It was a wild ride that I totally didn't see coming. It was not the sweet romance of her previous 2 books I read, but a grittier, edgier book. I couldn't have been more surprised, and it was fantastic surprise! The characters are very realistic. I came away with new perspective on what love is and I definitely let go of some preconceived notions of the "Biker" life. While I still don't plan on getting on a bike.......I wouldn't mind finding a man like Rain to call me his Woman! It has been four days and I am still thinking about Rain,
Tori and all the other characters. Even though Debra Kayn does a nice job of wrapping up the book, and its characters, I still wanted more and there were some people that I wanted to know more about. That is not only a sign of a good book in my opinion, but a GREAT book!

    Opposites Attract

Tori never stays anywhere for very long. When she pulled her mobile coffee shack into the parking lot of Cactus Cove a local biker bar she may have bit off more than she can chew. There she meets Rain Brookshire, the leader of the Bantorus motorcycle club and owner of Cactus Cove. Rain is out to run Lagsturns a rival motorcycle club out of town. The Lagsturns are bad news and they have set their sights on Tori. The only way for Rain to keep the mysterious Tori safe is to claim her as his. Tori is attracted to Rain, but isn’t going to let him keep her hear, not when danger is just around the corner. Will Rain be able to keep Tori safe and in his arms or will her past finally catch up to her?

I love this pairing! Tori is a sophisticated and smart woman who just so happens to have a goofy side that

Rain happens to love. I really liked getting to know her she is loads of fun and definitely a character I would love to be friends with. She was the perfect match for the rough and tough Rain.

Rain is an alpha hero who knows what he wants, but has an unexpected soft side to him that I enjoyed discovering. He is a great guy with a lot of depth to him and I really liked seeing him win Tori over. He really knows how to get on her nerves while charming her at the same time.

This is my absolute favorite quote by him and I feel shows the silly yet sweet relationship they have together.

“My woman doesn’t sleep on the couch. In the morning, I’m going to take my

woman to buy some pretty clothes that’ll drive me wild and put a smile on her face, and

if you go to bed like a good girl, I’ll see about kissing my woman in the morning after Icuddle with her tonight.”

There is a lot of action going on in this story with the rival gang causing trouble and someone from Tori’s past attempting to take her life. The excitement was evened out though with the fun and quirky banter between Rain and Tori.

This is a fun and exciting new read that romance fans are sure to enjoy!

Twists and turns and the wonderful aroma of dark, rich coffee ¿

Twists and turns and the wonderful aroma of dark, rich coffee – perfect! Okay, I’m the epitome of suburbia, and WAY not a biker babe (nope, that one summer riding a 250cc does not qualify me in any way), but Debra Kayn doesn’t care about that, and neither does her very well-written and compelling story. Suddenly I find myself thinking, “Hmmm, maybe I should find me a biker dude…” The story is by turns cute, sexy, scary, intriguing… and a who dunnit, just when we thought we knew the bad guy all along! Biker babe or not, this book will entertain and delight, and maybe, just maybe, have you checking out the Hog riders at the next truck stop….Very well done.
I purchased this book online and have given this review freely and without monetary compensation.

Do you love bikers? Do you love alpha males? You'll love Breathing His Air!
When I realized that I was about to finish Breathing His Air, I tried to stop. I wanted to put off the inevitable. I didn't want to let Rain go. I didn't want it to end. Unfortunately, like all good things, it did end. But it's OK, because we'll always have Pitnam.
Breathing His Air is the hottest story I've read this year...and I read a lot. I love bad boys, I love motorcycle clubs, and I love well-written sexy books. Breathing His Air has it all--a bad boy biker with tattoos and a rough exterior, a damaged but lovable girl who wants to run but can't stay away from him. I loved the chemistry, the emotion, and the story. I couldn't get enough--this is one of those books you think about when you're not reading it. Buy it, read it, you'll love it!

I love a hot, sexy, in charge guy. I love a woman who knows what she wants. Put those things together and I'm a happy-camper reader. This was definitely a happy-camper-reading experience for me!

Rain is absolutely delicious and a little bit broken; he's been hurt before and is wary of women. Tori has a past of her own to deal with, and even though she's been badly burned, she hasn't given up on love (or dishing out her homespun advice to her customers over coffee). Their journey to happily ever after has a few potholes, but it's a ride you won't want to miss...so pick up your copy and feel the wind in your hair!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review; all opinions are my own.

If you like your books suspenseful, unpredictable, captivating

If you like your books suspenseful, unpredictable, captivating, with a serious dose of masculine hotness, Breathing His Air is your book! Heroine Tori Baldwin is the kind of girl you want for a best friend, and she draws the readers in just as she draws in everyone else around her. Rain Brookshire is everything you could want in an Alpha male hero (who just also happens to be the leader of the Bantorus motorcycle gang - SCORE!); when he claims Tori as "his woman", author Debra Kayn makes sure the reader lives as Rain's woman vicariously through Tori. These two are awesome together, despite Tori's troubled past and Rain's trouble with the bad-news rival Lagsturns motorcycle gang. The story is one twist after another, and when Tori's life in endangered, I personally had no idea who was really out to get her or what their motive could be until the last 30 pages of the book. Breathing His Air is a masterfully crafted, action-packed, straight up fun story full of love, loyalty, humor, and realistic dialogue that really brings the characters to life. Tori and Rain will draw you in and keep you engaged to the very end - highly recommended!
