I didn't enjoy this authors writting style. The characters dialougue went back and forth between juvenile and psychobable. Who talks like this. One minute she shut off and pushing him away, the next don't leave me. A lot of what the characters said didn't fit the story line. I had a realllly hard time finishing this book. I didn't feel the connection between the two.

A decent read w almost 500 pages. Jesse isn't authenic to me as a guy... if its .99 cents read it for yourself...I doubt I will buy book two even w the cliffhanger ending. Also, very little actual relationship time between niki and jesse and very very limited sex. Would not classify as an erotic romance. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Love the fact I got book 2 already ready waiting for me. Holy heck on wheels this book is awesome. Hard to put down, very easy to get into, never a boring part of the book, sex is hot, and man drama. Love it !!!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Jesse is a mess, and he doesn't care. He doesn't care if he is hurt while bar fighting or if he is getting it on with someone else girl. He used to race motocross until he had a bad accident, and accident that might make it impossible for him to ever race again. So he finds himself drinking, drugging and whoring to put it all out of his mind.
Until he steps foot in California and meets Nikki, he has never had anything other then lust for a women. But the moment his eyes land on Nikki, that changes. He has to have her, and will do anything to get her and keep her. He is finally understanding what "love at first sight" really means.
This was a great book. It ends on kind of a cliff-hanger, I mean not really, just leaves you grabbing for that second book as soon as this one ends. That's a must, so make sure you have it handy.
I really like the person that Jesse is striving to be for himself and for Nikki, can't wait to see what happens next.
I think that only complaints I have is that time seems to get lost at some points. It will be the next day, and all is good, then jump its a couple days ahead and I am trying to figure out what may or may not have happened. Nothings missing really, but it almost seems like it with the jump in the time at some points. Other then that, the book is great and a fast read.

This is another book that caught my eye while browsing through Amazon. It was $.99 and I figured it might be a different type of read.
Plot: This plot begins pretty typical. Bad boy searching in all the wrong places. Of course he then meets this girl who changes everything he does. I do however, how this story isn’t mushy and just focusing on their love. Instead, this is more of Jesse’s story and how this girl is his true friend through everything.
Love: This story doesn’t really focus on Jesse and Nikki. And in a way that’s good and bad. It's good cause the story has more depth than lust and insta-love. It’s bad cause it focuses more on Jesse’s baggage than watching the relationship grow. Furthermore into the story, Nikkki sort of disappears and is only there in sometimes as minor characters instead of an main one.
Ending: Now the ending is rather catching. Just when Jesse’s life is starting to come around, lots of unexpected plot twist happen. I admit that the little cliff hanger, has me wanting more.
While Breathless starts off as typical, it begins to take its own path, forming in the end a unique story. I hoping that the second story will bring more emphasis on the love and relationship. Breathless is a good story.

The story line wasn't developed. The author crammed too much into this book. Everything moved way too fast and was unrealistic. Jesse is crude. Didn't like the drug content and references. Unrealistic that he could quit drugs cold turkey. I won't be reading the other books in this series. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Ms. Carter, if you want your readers to believe your character is a bad boy, please write him bad don't just keep reinterating he's bad. I have put this book down twice to go on to something else and I'm still only half way done. I'm stuggling. The dialog is torturing me, the characters are flat and the storyline thus far is has been do e to exhaustion. I feel obligated to finish because I bought it but it's going to be work. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Breathless is not bad but I couldn't get into the characters. The relationship, although somewhat sexy, was too juvenille. The quick emotional turn arounds for both characters were not believable. The author talks about serious emotional issues but some of the resolutions seem too trite. I'll pass on the sequel. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This book had a really good story line! (I'm trying not to spoil anything for those who haven't read it) The "adventure" we take with Jesse during his road trip was pretty unique (to me) as far as "romance novels" go. I liked Jesse a lot, and I would be very interested to read the next book in this series, which is due to be released in September, I believe. The ending of this one was definitely surprising!
This book was written in such a way that I could easily see this as a screen play or a movie script in the sense that there was A LOT of detail and A LOT of background-story/focus on the main characters independent of each other (as opposed to interacting WITH each other). I would have liked to see Jesse and Niki interact more, but I guess there's plenty of pages for that in the next book ;)
