Excerpt:

Bree

So--I was dating a werewolf. Not exactly the path I figured my love life would take. Before meeting Mikah I figured I might end up with an engineer or some chemistry professor I would meet from my work as a National Science Foundation consultant. Who knew the little Black Book I’d be using could have been written by the Brothers Grimm? For most of my life I had been devoted to the scientific method and strictly empirical approaches to reality It made me feel more in control of my life.

Then Makah flooded my life with what could only be described as magic. I kept trying to wrap my head around the idea he just had a special DNA kink, or that lycanthropy was the result of a virus, but physics are physics. I’ve known a lot of men who could turn into asses after a couple of drinks, but there just wasn’t a good scientific explanation for shape-shifting when the moon rose. I was trying to take it one step at a time. And hands down--he is the best lover I’ve ever had.

Mikah

I shook the water off the umbrella Bree had handed me while she unlocked the door, and followed her in. God, she was so beautiful. Just looking at her got me excited and I could feel the gold filling my eyes, signaling my arousal. One of the big pluses of her knowing I was in her words, “A Furry American,” was not having to hide anything, like constantly monitoring my eye color around her, or having to explain why I was always busy during a full moon.

I set the umbrella in its antique stand and pulled her close to me. She was still damp from yet another rainy day in Seattle. “Vaginas are like the weather,” I whispered in her ear, “When it’s wet, it’s time to go inside.” She laughed, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards her bedroom. Bree had started undressing me as part of her foreplay, something no partner I had ever had would do, but I was learning to really enjoy it.
