Hannah Nelson, a native New Zealander, has been accepted to DePaul University in Chicago. She had been living in Portland, Oregon for several years, and is relieved to be away from the questions surrounding the sudden disappearance of her close friend, Emma. While at her dance studio, housed in an historic building in downtown Chicago, she is drawn to a painting of a handsome man from 1865, and as she looks into his emerald green eyes, her world goes black.

Christopher Butler is in Lincoln's War Cabinet and working with his close friend, Clayton Madden to keep the President safe. Upon returning from Lincoln's historic Gettysburg Address, he hears a strange noise in his barn, and enters to find a beautiful woman unconscious on the straw strewn floor. He realizes quickly she is the key to his sanity and he will never let her go.

As Hannah navigates her new world and comes to terms with the fact she has been transported back in time, will she allow Christopher to love her?

Meet the Author

Tracey was born and raised in New Zealand, and that's where her love of horses was formed. Her grandfather taught her to ride at four years old, and she couldn't get enough.

Her love and passion for Abraham Lincoln and the entire Civil War era might have come from her American father, however, he lays no claim to influencing her. Tracey's mother used to tell her she was simply born in the wrong place in the wrong time.

Tracey hasn't always wanted to write. It took her a long time to get started, but now she doesn't seem to be able to stop, the joy of escaping to the 1860s is too much fun.

She's been happily married and gooey in love with her husband for seventeen years. They live in the Pacific Northwest with their two sons.

Great Series - Not the Best Book of the Series

Historical romance, mystery and a time portal. In book 3, Emma's friend Hannah is brought back to 1863. I love the series; though, this book did seem good at first it kind of drug out through the middle. I will read the rest of the series and hope the rest of the books are as good as the first 2

    Time Travel Romance

This book was okay. It needed more, more character development, more plot development.

It is a romance novel, first and foremost. The time travel aspect is not fully developed.

I'll probably keep reading the series, but I doubt I'll spend money on them.

    Another great Bride series addition

Another wonderful addition in the Bride series. Hannah Nelson, had been living in Portland, Oregon for several years, and is relieved to be away from the questions surrounding the sudden
disappearance of her close friend, Emma. She finds out that Emma has been living in the past, when Hannah is suddenly transported to the Civil War time period. Romance, intrigue and suspense will surround you when you delve into this storyline. You will not be disappointed in this wonderfully written book by Tracey Jane Jackson. Enjoy!!

THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR FOR ROMANTICS

I love the Civil War, the time period, and time travel! Jackson's series contains all three aspects in a delightful way. Besides the love stories there is a touch of mystery and history. A fun read.

Time Travel, Romance, Mystery - What More Could You Ask For?

Tracey Jane Jackson has written four books so far of the "Civil War Brides" series, another due out in June I believe. I don't know how many she plans to write, but this reader has enjoyed three so far and is looking forward to reading number four! I love time travel books and she has done this, including mystery, romance and modern humor in her stories. What more can a reader ask for?
The books are written in such a way, that you finish each, looking for the next, and I'm sure the author planned on that.
This author has a lot of sweet romance in her books and leaves most things to the imaginations which is a nice touch. Too much can be a turn off. In this particular book of the series we learn more about the time travel portal and how it works, and who can do the traveling, and the reasons some of the characters past and future are sent back to 1863. The civil war era, Lincolns time, most of the story takes place in the area of Gettysburg, Washington DC and Virginia.
This author is well versed in the history of this time period and shares much in her books, they are rich in history. It is the knowledge of the characters that go back in time, shared amongst them as they find each other, that they must not do anything to alter the outcome of history more than going back to the period from the current year. You can imagine it would leave anyone hard pressed not to interfere with the knowledge that Lincoln will be assasinated, as it would forever alter the history of the present world. They do have a run in wiht characters from the future who are trying to do just that, alter the future, and that is very present in this particular book. I'll not say anything more I would spoil it for you. You'll have to read the book to find out if the evil characters are able to make changes to the future by altering the past.
Here is the verbage as written on the back of the book:
Hannah Nelson, a native New Zealander, is drawn to a painting of a handsome man from 1865, and as she looks into his emerald green eyes, her world goes black. Christopher Butler is in Lincoln's War Cabinet and working to keep President Lincoln safe. As Hannah navigates her new world and comes to terms with the fact she has been transported back in time, will she allow Christopher to love her?
