For six long years Thomas Moreland has dreamed of the beautiful young noblewoman who rescued him from death. While amassing his fortune in India, not a day passed he did not recall Felicity's fair loveliness, did not recall the silken tones of her sweet voice, did not desire to possess her.

Now a widow, Felicity Harrison does not recognize the handsome nabob as the young man left for dead by highwayman years earlier. Though she wants nothing more than to snub the arrogant man who promises to rescue her family from financial ruin in exchange for presenting his sister to Society, she cannot snub him. She must force herself to bear his company. But the longer she is with him, the more she has to force herself to remain true to her dead husband's memory. Why is it the humbly born Thomas Moreland possesses more nobility that any man of her class? And why is it she finds it harder and harder to mourn a dead man when Thomas's virility awakens her deepest desires?

This is the only one of this series that I was read. I loved Felicity, and how she interacts with her siblings. The hero is perfect, another sweet read before bed.

Storyline with mystery style twists and multiple love subplots helps keep reader interest alive even though the heroine is rather pathetic. She keeps the hero twisting in the breeze while she agonizes over past love and doubt of the his true love. The third time she turned away from his declaration of love, I was bored. Bolen's writing is fairly even and her use of English idiom acceptable. Never have known a Brit to use the nickname 'Sis' but guess there is always a first time.

One of the best books i have read in years. Great story line. Great writting.

Great storyline and I'm very excited to read the rest of this series to learn about the other characters finding their true love. Just a hint of a devious character to keep you engaged trying to keep apart true love.

I read one of the other books first. Wish I had read this one in the correct order. Bolen is a wonderful writer and captures the essence of the time period.

Albeit rather repetitive and drawn out in parts, i somewhat enjoyed the read. Author could eliminate a good bit of the main characters recriminating "head chatter" and certainly it would not be missed.

This was the first time I read a Cheryl Bolen book and I really liked it. I would definitely read her books again

I thought this was going to be boring but other than a few places were it didn't move fast enough it was very good. The love scenes are tastefully done and it has a villain who seems to be good at hiding his evil character from the other characters in the book, but of course we know he's evil (duh). A few times I truly wanted to slap Felicity for being a dolt but overall I would recommend it. I am anxious to read the next in the series to see how it goes.

I kinda got tired of Felicity's "Oh but I still love my dead husband" attitude. But overall this a decent read.

Well enough written ... not much suspense

Of course, the title gives something away, but we are given a widow completely uninterested in reentering the marriage field, though she is pursued by more than one. I did not care for this character's over-reaction to discovering the identity of the most recent suitor, but it all comes together, and I recommend this reading to all who enjoy a great story with readable romance!

This was okay, but really hard to get into the book and follow the story line.

While some of the main character's actions seemed a bit nonsensical and the ending seemed a bit rushed, overall I enjoyed the story. I look forward to reading the rest of the series (even though the blurb for book 4 gave away a sad spoiler for one of the characters in this one).

This is a good story . Thomas Moreland Was wanting to go overseas to make his fortune. The highway men had robed him of his money and horse and beat him up and left him in the middle of the road. They left him for dead. He finally heard a carriage coming . If he could only get the drivers attention so he tried to get in the middle of the road,he could made the stop. Felicity Harrison stopped the Carriage and run to help him. Now go buy this book and finish this book. I really loved it so much, I am going to read it again.

Loved the entire book would highly recommend reading. Very enjoyable but will not purchase other books in series. Book 2 will probably be as good as the 1st but the descriptions of books 3 and 4 turned me off completely. There is nothing about the character of Carlotta, book 3 that would induce me to spend my money and knowing that Dianna dies in book 4 just makes me want to cry. I don't understand why this author would create a story for an unlikabe character but kill a character that was so loved.

Wow, this was a great book! It was everything I thought it would be, which was a great historical romance and I emphasize romance. It was sexy and very romantic. Loved the the premise of her deciding she was never getting married again and him actually having a clue that was her main problem. Don't want to give away too much but will leave it at this...I will be looking for other books by this author!
