Could pass as Amish; delightful rural 1940s

Wunderbar! 1940s rural Indiana parallels modern Amish in every way except hidden cell phones. There's joy on both sides of the Atlantic when a rural Indiana girl is betrothed to a Venne, Germany farming lad. Well, OK, not all are happy. Not Regina who has her own eye on the miller's son and not Diedrich a new immigrant more interested in California goldfields. The `Vaters' planned the marriage; so let them wed. The arranged couple makes their own plans to reverse the matrimonial decision of their Gott-fearing dads. But love has its own secret ways of changing souls and entwining hearts. Jealousy finds a home in the mind of a miller's son. A quilt piece reveals a shocking family secret. More conflict? Ja, but `gut' story. It's primarily Christian Romance, but the historical aspect of mid 19th century pioneer life also his it's own layer. Seems period authentic. The only slight downfall, and perhaps it's because I am a man, is that the protagonist couple waver so often in and out of faith and trust. Then again, without that part, all those historical lifestyle events like threshing, barn raising, and spud planting would not have had time to be told.
