I have a fascination with the British monarchy, so when I saw this book I was extremely excited. You cannot imagine my disappointment when I began reading the book and found that the lack of correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and even capitalization kept me from enjoying the book. The writing is so bad that I literally had to stop reading the book in some parts in order to understand what the author was trying to say. Mike Ashley knows his British history, but he lacks the fundamental ability to write. In two pages I found as many as 20 errors! In a different section there is a paragraph that lasted for over a page and a half! I also found a paragraph was a single sentence! I truly have no idea how this book made it from the author's hands into mine! Does the publisher have an editor? Did anyone read this book before it was sent to be printed? I don't know who I am more disappointed with, the author and his inability to write even the simplest paragraph, or the publisher who allowed such an error-ridden book to be printed and sold to the masses as many times as it has been-it was first published in 1998! Despite the numerous written errors, the content of the book is interesting and has kept me reading. However, due the massive amounts of errors, the book is difficult to read and will take a bit longer to get through if you want a complete understanding of what Mike Ashley is trying to say. If you don't notice errors, or simply don't care about them, than this is the book for you. If someone would have taken the time to correctly edit this book, it would have been wonderful. But the errors take away from the content of the text and make it a miserable read. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
