The Brigade: The Fifth Canadian Infantry Brigade in World War II
Consisting of the Calgary Highlanders, the Black Watch, and the French-speaking Régiment de Maisonneuve, the 5th Canadian Infantry Brigade landed in France in early July 1944 as part of British General Bernard Montgomery's 21st Army Group. Terry Copp is Professor of History Emeritus and Director of the Laurier Centre for Military, Strategic and Disarmament Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. He is the author of numerous books and articles on Canadian military history, including Cinderella Army: The Canadians in Northwest Europe, 1944-1945 and Fields of Fire: The Canadians in Normandy, which won the Society for Military History's Distinguished Book Award for 2004.
