Overview

Reader alert: BRINK OF ETERNITY was published under a different cover, but with the same title, in July of 2011. The content is the same. You may have also read BRINK OF ETERNITY on the Heroes & Heartbreakers website.

Welcome to Caris Roane's vampire collection, two very different novellas that track the journey of two powerful vampires. In entirely different ways, both BRINK OF ETERNITY and EMBRACE THE DARK, explore the sexy mystique of the warrior vampire, each over-burdened by the responsibilities of his job and in need of the love of a good woman.

BRINK OF ETERNITY follows the tradition of the Guardians of Ascension and introduces the Militia Warrior aspect of Second Earth. First published in July of 2011, the story features Warrior Gideon and his Mortal Earth lover, Elise Jordan, as she answers her call to ascension. BRINK OF ETERNITY launches a novella series called, Dawn of Ascension. The second novella, THE DARKENING, releases on Valentine’s Day, 2014. But the world is the same, and the Warriors of the Blood often show up as well as the magnificent Endelle.

EMBRACE THE DARK takes you into the world of the Blood Rose series, in which the blood-needs of a master vampire can only be met by one gifted woman. First published in May of 2012, EMBRACE THE DARK explores the Nine Realms of North America, a world inhabited not just by vampires, but by the fae, by charming trolls, and the evil Invictus pairs that prey on the weak of the realm. But ruling each realm, and more powerful than any other creature in the land, is a Mastyr Vampire. Our beleaguered Mastyr Vampire, Gerrod, suffers from chronic blood starvation and can only be sated by a phenomenon called a blood rose. But how can he accept Abigail as his blood rose, when she’s a mere human?

Brink of Eternity, A Dawn of Ascension Novella, Book #1 5-Stars

Brink of Eternity, A Dawn of Ascension Novella, Book #1 5-Stars
In this multi-dimensional world some humans possess preternatural powers and when those powers reach a certain level, they can choose to ascend to the next dimension. Ascending comes with a lot of physical and geographic changes. When human, Elise Jordan, confesses to ex-boyfriend, Militia Warrior on Second Earth, Gideon, that all those memory wipes he performed on her never worked and she has some very strong preternatural powers, he was extremely upset for all the lies. He thought she was a normal human woman. Normal she's not! She's also ready for ascension.

A vampire story with a twist! Gorgeous sexy vampire warrior, Gideon, is no different from guys here on earth. He doesn't want commitment. He a warrior and doesn't want the responsibility of caring for one more person. If Elise ascends, he'll feel responsible for her but when it's fate, no matter how hard you fight it, it's inevitable! The breh-hedden is magnificent to watch! The bigger they are, the harder they fall. I can't wait to read more of this fantastic series!!!

Embrace the Dark, The Blood Rose Series, Book #1 5-Stars
There are nine realms that exist in a parallel plane to nine major cities in North America. Mastyr Vampire Gerrod, of the Merhaine Realm, couldn't figure out his attraction to the human, Abigail Kirkland. After some strange shared incidents, they seek the help of Vojalie, a very powerful fae. The information they find forces them to make some extremely difficult, life altering changes.

The only problem I had with reading this book, was that it was over too soon. What an amazing world this author has introduced me to! Very large, very sexy Mastyr Vampires, each not actively looking for but finding their Blood Rose. A gifted woman that can single handedly meet the blood-needs of a Mastyr Vampire. A sort of mating ritual. In this book, it's Abigail and Gerrod. Abigail has a bakery on earth and is opening another in the Merhaine realm and is partnered with an elf. At the same time this crazy mating ritual is happening, they're fighting the Invictus. It's all a lot to explain but definitely worth taking the time to understand. This is a brilliant twist on the good vampire and bad vampire story line. I loved it and I can't wait to read more.

Vampire Collection: Brink Of Eternity and Embrace The Dark By Ca

Vampire Collection: Brink Of Eternity and Embrace The Dark
    By Caris Roane
This book offers the reader a look at two different kinds of vampire warriors. In the first book, Brink of Eternity, we are introduced to the Militia Warriors and the Warriors of Blood who reside on Second Earth. This story centers on Gideon, a Militia Warrior and his mortal girlfriend Elise Jordan. Elise was very happy with her life until she felt her magic call to her and she decided to "ascend". Elise is a clairvoyant/Seer, she sees the future. For years she was dating Gideon, a Militia Warrior. He had stopped their relationship. After seeing a vision of Gideon's sister Rachel being attacked by "pretty boys", death vampires, she gets in contact with Gideon again. Rachel wants nothing to do with the war going on in Second Earth, so she lives on Mortal Earth in peace. After a series of visions, Elise decides to ascend. Gideon is against it.
Darian Greaves heads up the opposition and is in charge of the death vampires. he wants to take over Second Earth. Greaves wants Elise after she ascends because she is a very powerful Seer. Not only can she see the future, but she can project these visions to Gideon, making him one step in front of the enemy. While all of this is going on, Elise and Gideon begin to go through breh-hedden, finding your mate and Gideon's ascension to Warrior of the Blood. After Elise is kidnapped by the death vampires and is rescued by Gideon, they both begin breh-hedden and join together to fight in the war to save Second Earth.
The second book in this collection is the first book in the Blood Rose series. Mastyr Vampire Gerrod is the leader of the Merhaine Realm one of the Nine Realms. Abigail comes from Flagstaff, is human and a baker and owns a bakery called Just Too Sweet! Abigail is a favorite among the trolls, elves and faeries of this realm and as a result, along with her elf partner, she opens up a second bakery in Gerrod's Realm. Gerrod does everything he can to try to avoid Abigail by he can't stay away. The attraction is mutual. After a touch between the two, strange waves began to come from Gerrod to Abigail, they could also communicate telepathically. Something was up. After consulting Vojalie, the leader of the fae and a very wise woman, they realize the Abigail is a Blood Rose. This was believed to be a legend. Once a vampire becomes a Mastyr, he is in a constant state of starvation no matter how much blood they take. A Blood Rose will satisfy with hunger. As Gerrod and Abigail try to work though Abigail's place in Gerrod's life, they must also deal with the Invictus, evil vampire pairs trying to take over the Nine Realms.
I really enjoyed these two novellas. It gives you an introduction to two of the series written by Caris Roane. Gideon and Elise's relationship was interesting. All throughout their relationship prior to her ascension, Elise lied about her ability to have her mind wiped after each encounter with Gideon as well as her abilities to see the future. Soon they both realize that they will need each other if they hope to win the war to save Second Earth. The relationship between Gerrod and Abigail is sweet as well. Each trying to figure out why they feel the way they do about each other and what exactly a Blood Rose is. The secondary characters in each of the stories have me looking forward to the rest of the books in each of these series. Each one will eventually find their breh-hedden and Blood Rose. I highly recommend this book especially if you are looking for a different type of vampire story. I was given this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

In this collection you get to enjoy two novellas... Brink of Eternity (Dawn of Ascension) and Embrace the Dark (Blood Rose Series). Both books give you a look into their worlds. In Brink of Eternity, we meet a warrior named Gideon and his ex- girlfriend Elise. She has kept secrets from him, but decides to come clean to save his sister. When these two meet up the sparks fly! She feels a call to become ascended like him... he knows danger will follow her... so he does what he can to protect her. What an amazing adventure these two go on. I really enjoyed stepping into their world and am looking forward to much more!
Next is Embrace the Dark, here we meet a Vampire Mastyr named Gerrod. He rules one of the nine realms in North America. This man fights an attraction he has to a human woman, deals with blood starvation, and trying to keep his people safe from the enemy that has become very dangerous. I love the push and pull relationship Gideon and Abigail have... neither really knowing they are made for each other and fighting their feelings. What a truly interesting world Caris Roane has created... enjoyed the interactions between all of the characters... I hope to see more of them in future books!

Brink of Eternity was a great novella that took me back to second earth. I liked that the hero of the novel was a militia warrior. Gideon is a fierce warrior and an avid force of good fighting for the realm. His life is duty and war until he gets a call that changes everything. A beautiful woman named Elise (his ex) is a powerful clairvoyant and foresees something that they must team together to change. The problem? They have a supercharged attraction to one another and neither wants to give into it. I really enjoyed the storyline and appreciated the glimpse into the militia warriors lives. I loved that we got a brief moment with Endelle and I enjoyed the warrior of the blood references.

Embrace the Dark focuses on Master Vampire Gerrod of the Merhaine realm. Like most vampire Heroes he is sexy, powerful, and thinks himself above humans. Until fates tempts him with sassy little Abigail.... She may be human but you can't help but love her fierce spirit and strong will. Even fighting against the blood thirsty Invictus and surrounded by vampires, fae, elves, and trolls Abagail is strong and beautiful. The attraction between her and Gerrod cannot be denied however and the master will soon realize that Abigail isn't just any human. This novel is fast paced, full of action, excitement, and a good dose of romance. Add in a whole mess of fairy tale creatures and some sexy vampires and you've got a whole new very different world. A unique twist on vampires and one I'm looking forward to reading more about.

I loved this novella that featured a Militia Warrior instead

I loved this novella that featured a Militia Warrior instead of a Guardian Of Ascension which is what this series is pretty much based on.
Although this book is numbered #2.5 I think it should be numbered #1.5, Warrior Marcus and Havily are not even together in this novella yet.

But no matter I still enjoyed this and it makes me wonder if eventually Gideon will one day join the Warrior's although he doesn't seem to want to anytime soon.

I loved the appearance of Endelle, I think she's a hoot, with her blunt but brutally honest opinions and thoughts, I'd love for her to get her own book.

Being only a Militia Warrior Gideon is not supposed to experience the breh-hedden but he does with none other than his ex-girlfriend who had been hiding some secrets of her own through the two years that they dated, one being that she has visions and after having one involving Gideon's sister Rachel she knows that she needs to tell him, it's here that he also learns that she has other powers and that she has chosen to ascend.

Assigned to protect her, Gideon will have to rely on her if he wants to save his sister's life, but what happens when their plane to save Rachel goes awry?

I'm really loving this series more and more with each story I read.
