The Bro Code is a living document, like the Constitution. Although it dates back to the American Revolution, The Bro Code has never been published before. Few know of its existence, and the code has only been verbally communicated between those “in the bro.” Until now. Regardless of veracity, a Bro never admits familiarity with a Broadway show or musical. When attending a strip club, a Bro never wears jeans. These are only two of the truths in an epic code of conduct for dudes, essential for ensuring a man’s success in daily life and garnering him respect from his buddies. If a dude breaks the code, he risks losing face, friends, and most importantly— women. For the first time ever, The Bro Code spells out 150 rules men need to know in order to behave properly among other bros. This code of conduct for bros can range from the simple (bros before hos) to the complex (the hot-to-crazy ratio, complete with bar graphs and charts). With helpful sidebros and illustrations, The Bro Code will help any ordinary guy become the best bro he can be.
Whether we know it or not, each of us lives a life governed by an internalized code of conduct. Some call it morality. Others call it religion. I call it "the Bro Code."
For centuries men have attempted to follow this code with no universal understanding of what such an arrangement meant: Is it okay to hug a Bro?* If I'm invited to a Bro's wedding, do I really have to bring a gift? Can I sleep with a Bro's sister or mother or both?
Now, for the first time on paper, I have recorded the rules of social decorum that Bros have practiced since the dawn of man...if not before. The Bro Code previously existed only as an oral tradition (heh), so I have journeyed the globe to piece together and transcribe the scattered fragments of the Bro Code, pausing only to flesh it out myself (double heh). While not intending to write a "Guide to Being a Bro," if men should treat it as such and pass this compendium of knowledge from one generation to the next, I have little doubt it would bring a tear to my eye. But not out of it. That would be a violation of Article 41: A Bro never cries.
It is my hope that, with a better understanding of the Bro Code, Bros the world over can put aside their differences and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. It is then, and only then, that we might work together as one to accomplish perhaps the most important challenge society faces -- getting laid. Before dismissing this pursuit as crass and ignoble, consider this postulate: without the sport inherent in trying to bang chicks, would men willingly have sex for the sole purpose of producing smelly, screaming babies?
Centuries from now, when a Bro applies the rudiments of the Bro Code to score a three-boobed future chick, the only thanks I'll need is the knowledge that I -- in whatever small capacity -- Bro'd him out...though if he could figure out how to bring me back to life, that would be pretty awesome, too. -- Barney Stinson ™ & © 2008 by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. The premise: we are all presided over by innate rules of conduct and behavior - some call it morality - but Bros in the know call it the Bro Code. This side-splitting prize comes fully loaded with penetrating parody. Although a quick read, "The Bro Code" is suitably weighted with entertaining one-liners. Men, keep this awesome book on your coffee table, or your desk. Women, buy this book for a peak into the psyche of a Bro in the know. This effortless and gratifying book makes a great gift.

A very funny book. Writen as-if from the viewpoint of Barney Stinson. Barney if the character played by Neil-Patrick Harris on the comedy 'How I Met Your Mother'. The book is writtten to be read very easily. It's broken up into article points, approximately one-per-page. So it's easy to pick up and read from anywhere in the book.
Barney is characterized as being a very overt Womanizer. No woman could resist him, and he would do almost anything to get the woman (for their one-night stand). But his character believed whole-heartedly in the adage 'Bros before Hoes'. And that he would do anything/everything in his power the help his 'Bros' score, and that they should do the same for him.
In the TV-series he makes reference to 'The Bro Code' many times. Claiming it as an actual legitimate printed text, not just an imaginary code of honor amongst fellow males. This book is that printed text.
Many humorous refences/instructions on how to look out for your bros. Whether it be hiding him from an ex-girlfriend, to lying for him to help him score the uber-babe.
He does site that some 'chicks' (women) are better bros in some cases. Like they know what a prospective one-night stand may wanna hear about you, to seal the deal and what-not.
To wrap-it-up. If you are a fan of the hit Television show, a fan of good-natured humor, or just wanna have a good coffe table book you know your friends won't be able to resist picking-up and thumbing thru. I recommend this book. I've had many a friend just casually pick it up and after a quick glance start reading passages aloud.

Written as if the character from the show was alive and well and living in New York City. This book was great fun to give as a gift to my son, who is a big fan of the show "How I Met Your Mother". It brought about a great deal of laughter and even more when he shared it with his friends back at school!

Here I am, wingman to many friends but constantly wondering about two questions.
"Am I the BEST wingman a bro can have?"
"When I choose my BRO, what test can I use?"
Well, Barney Stinson and Matt Kuhn have come to the rescue with a set of easy to remember and analytically based rules and tests that will give guidance to all wingmen and bros out there.
Barney Stinson has inspired me, motivated me, and made me feel good about myself and my ability to be the best bro my buddies can ask for. He is my Oprah!
I heartily recommend this book for all high school boys who want to learn the sacred responsibilities of being a bro. They should use this book in health class as it will stop these young men from making many mistakes that all of us bros make before learning how to be a bro.

I Also Recommend:
I bought this as a gift for my sister, but being a fan of the show ("How I Met Your Mother"), I ended up reading it before I gave it to her. This is classic Barney, so if you're a big fan of the show and you find that whole totally mistaken male mentality thing amusing, this is a great book. It's definately good for light reading and entertainment. Guys, I wouldn't count on using any of this advice in real life!

The Bro Code by Barney Stinson is a humorous book that details about 150 rules that a brother or the colloquial ¿bro¿ should live by. Some of the rules include guidelines that dictates etiquette and morality of a bro. Although the book presents itself at first as a series of purely sexist one liners, there are occasional valuable rules that dictate rules that provide important structural guidelines to being a good friend and a bro. Don't pass this book up too quickly thinking that its content is purely a mixture of the moral code of a college frat boy.
This book contains several sections detailing the etiquettes of apportion, loyalty, and cooperation among one's bros. The book also contains explanations available to codes that detail exceptions and in-depth limits of the codes. However, the book does include several humorous codes that supply the reader with a mix of contemplation, reverence, and levity. But even so, this book does provide a guideline that can be applied to more than the specified bro. Some of these rules are available to be taken and used in multiple aspects of life other than the bro so I do recommend others to try read this book. It's wide selection of emotions and topics enable a lot of people to be able to connect with its writing. A warning about the book though, read it with a grain of salt and take its sarcastic humor lightly. This book has a lot of male centered humor but it also does have some credibility in its writing.

This book has no story but rules for bros or a manual to live by. It is a quick read which will make you smile. It takes known rules like "bros before hos" and adds tons of those that are lesser known. It would make a great gift for any wingman or How I Met Your Mother fan. It is funny, entertaining, and sometimes informative.

Overview
Do your buddies know “The Code”? in a hilarious guide inspired by a memorable episode of the hit CBSv television show How I Met Your Mother, ultimate bro Barney Stinson outlines how a bro should behave in any situation.
