Overview

Broke in Boston was designed to help alleviate the financial burden that Boston places on its residents, while providing instructions for helping new Bostonians orient to, and find their way around, Boston. The book features sections on where to find cheap eats, cheap drinks, discounted furniture and clothing, restaurants worth a splurge, cheap apartments, free entertainment, cheap entertainment, discount tickets and fares, and cool but cheap date places. There are also nine full color maps detailing metro Boston, three transit maps, tips on apartment hunting, information on orienting to Boston's idiosyncrasies, historical content, easy and cheap food and drink recipes, a listing of every annual festival in the city, and even dating tips. The pocket-sized book is truly a bible for living on the cheap.

Work commenced on Broke in Boston: A Guide to Living Cheap in the City when Einhorn-a twenty-seven year old Entrepreneur-commissioned four college seniors from Harvard, Boston University, Boston College, and Brandeis University to help him create a comprehensive, insider's guide for combating the ills of being young and broke.

"Look, when you're trying to find the best deals in a city, everyone knows college students have a nose for it," says Einhorn. "To this day, I am amazed at the average college student's ability to miss 9 out of 10 classes, but still find the cheapest hamburger in a 10 mile radius."

The guidebook covers all the major areas of Boston including Boston Proper, Back Bay, Brighton, Brookline, Allston, Cambridge, Somerville, and the South End.
