Two leaders.
Two worlds.
Passion ignites…
…just as the storm erupts.

Julia Innes, leader of the Immune survivors in Los Alamos, has done her best to ensure that the rest of her fellow Immune have settled into their new lives after the Dying. Even the friendly Santa Fe djinn have followed suit, creating a calm between the two cities — a world of peaceful co-existence.

But all is not as it seems...

Although she refuses to give in to her feelings, Julia struggles with her need for Zahrias al-Harith, the leader of the Santa Fe djinn, knowing her desire will never be reciprocated. But when a crisis brings her face-to-face with Zahrias, she worries that she won’t be able to hide her attraction to the man who holds her heart. As an unforeseen threat shatters the fragile peace, Zahrias must confront an adversary from his past. Julia is forced into their conflict, catapulting her into the world of the djinn…and drawing her into a struggle where far more than just her heart is at stake.

Julia Innes was almost broken by her treatment at the hands of her fiancé, before he was killed during the Heat. Then she was physically abused by the so called leader of her small enclave of immune in Los Alamos. When they were liberated by Zahrias and his band of Djinn and their Chosen, she returned to Los Alamos as its leader. She is doing her best to run the city fairly, and has a n alliance with Santa Fe where the Djinn and their Chosen have settled. Now if she could just put a certain attraction to Zahrias out of her head she could maybe move on in putting her life back together! Zahrias al-Harith, the leader of the Santa Fe djinn, almost chose Julia as his Chosen but after a former joining did not end well, he hesitated and then it was too late. He now has an alliance with her settlement and when danger once again comes calling, he comes to her aid. But to save Julia Zahrias is going to have to deal with a jealous ex of the Djinn variety and another entanglement with the former leader of Los Alamos, who still has his sights on Julia! Another fantastic instalment in the Djinn wars series. Julia and Zahrias are both so bound up in their past that they cannot see what could be a fantastic future for them together. With enemies coming at them from all fronts they finally give in to the attraction between them. Superb story arc and characters with substance. You will get sucked into this post apocalyptic world in no time. I highly recommend reading the books in order rather than as stand alones. Ready for the next in the series please!!!!!!!!!!

Continuing on in the Djinn Wars, Broken breaks away from the previous main characters Jessica and Jace, and instead takes two others characters from the series as the main focus, Julia and Zaharias. Yes, you should read the series from the beginning. Life goes on after Captain Margolis loses his battle. He is now imprisoned. Zaharias continues his leadership role in Santa Fe, while Julia is now the leader in Los Alamos. Somehow Captain Margolis escapes his prison and is determined to take revenge. The reasons why are an important part of the story. Every love story needs a beginning. Why Julia and Zaharias feel the need to not express their emotion towards one another also play a large part in the story. If you have read the previous books in the Djinn Wars, you know Julia’s reason. What you learn is Zaharias’s reason. Keeping the same page turning excitement, and bringing in Jessica, Jace and some of the other characters from the previous books will have you wanting to not stop until the end. Human and Djinn will work together again, or should I say still, in the battle against Margolis. Changing main characters does not impact the desire to reach the end. In addition, you will want to get the next in the series as quickly as possible.
