Overview

Rebecca and Jonathan met while attending a Christian college, and it wasn't long before they heard church bells ringing. But when their fundamentalist religious upbringing began to sow discord in their intimate life, it wasn't long until those once-joyous peals began to sound like fateful tolls.

"Broken Covenant breaks new ground exposing the controls that organized religion exercises over the souls of men and women. It is for married couples, the divorced, and those contemplating marriage. It is nonexploitative, authentic, and at times painful. It is a path to healing." —Jeff Waters, former ordained minister

"The perspectives on intimate relationships, religion, and personal growth are clear, believable, and appeal to both the intellect and the emotions. Broken Covenant is deeply spiritual and full of great empathy and practical guidance." —Theodore Alston, M.D. associate professor, Harvard Medical School Broken Covenant is the story of a couple, Rebecca and Jonathan, who meet at a Christian college, fall in love, marry, and find unhappiness. The unhappiness is largely because of the husband's religious hangups about sex. The couple divorce in spite of their mutual respect and friendship.

This is not a how-to book on divorce but rather an inspirational, honest account of one person's experience that can benefit those who are either going through divorce or in an unhappy marriage. The author provides thoughtful insight into this complex emotional journey in the hope that others can learn from it and perhaps avoid some of the mistakes and pain. This book is particularly relevant to those who were raised in a strict, religious (repressive) environment who find themselves disillusioned in their marriage and are struggling to understand what's wrong.
