Meet the Author

Dean started reading seriously in the second grade due to a competition and has spent most of the subsequent three decades lost in other people's worlds. After reading several local libraries more or less dry of sci-fi and fantasy, he started spending more time wandering around worlds of his own creation to avoid the boredom of the 'real' world. Things worsened, or improved depending on your point of view, when he first started experimenting with writing while finishing up his accounting degree. These days Dean has a wonderful wife and daughter to keep him rather more grounded, but the idea of bringing others along with him as he meets interesting new people in universes nobody else has ever seen tends to drag him back to his computer on a fairly regular basis.

I read 150 pages of this book hoping that it would get a plot. I finally surrendered after 150 panic attacks that resulted in fainting spells and weird dreamscapes. This book is evidently for emo middle school girls. The cover photo is completely deceiving and the book drags on terribly. I finally gave up.... maybe I just didn't get it...

At least it was free. After 130 boring pages I gave up.

Beginning had a lot of detail and character development which I liked, but then, from the climax to the end the pace changed. Still was a good read, but wish the details were better towards the end.

I received a free copy of this book to read and leave an honest review. Adriana is severely broken by a deadly incident in which her sister and father died, and which she believes is her fault. Her mother is more concerned with her photography career than she is with Adriana. Alec and Brandon are two opposing factions in this story, and you wonder who is good and who is evil. As the story unfolds and you find out more and more of what is going on, it becomes more and more compelling and you can't put it down. This is my first shifter book and I found it fascinating. As Adriana learned more, so did I. This was a very well-written, smoothly paced, well-rounded story in that you really got to know the characters little by little throughout the story and were satisfied with who they are. This was a very good first to the series and I am definitely looking to read more.

Felt like it was like Twilight. Not my cup of tea. Dragged on forever.

Loved the book! But it took a long time to finally get there. The first 200 pages were more or less the same.

First two thirds could have been reduced as they dragged on too long. The rest was good but to be left with "to be continued" was a let down.
