Overview

From the bestselling author of Dying LightIn the pale grey light of a chilly February, Aberdeen is not at its best…There's a rapist prowling the city's cold granite streets, leaving a string of tortured women behind. But while DS Logan McRae's girlfriend is out acting as bait, he's dealing with the blood-drenched body of an unidentified male, dumped outside Accident and Emergency. When a stash of explicit films turn up, all featuring the victim, it looks as if someone in the local bondage community has developed a taste for violent death, and Logan gets dragged into the twilight world of pornographers, sex-shops and S&M.To make matters worse, when they finally arrest the Granite City Rapist, Grampian Police are forced by the courts to let him go: Aberdeen Football Club's star striker has an alibi for every attack. Could they really have got it so badly wrong? Logan thinks so, but the trick will be getting anyone to listen before the real rapist strikes again. Especially as his girlfriend, PC Jackie 'Ball Breaker' Watson, is convinced the footballer is guilty and she's hell-bent on a conviction at any cost...

Another winner for Stuart McBride and his Logan McRae series of books! I am now begining book #4, and I can't wait!! While maintaining character and story lines of the series, each book is great on it's own. I especially enjoy the feeling that I am in Scotland, peeking over DS McRae and PC Watson's shoulder while they work! The character of DI Steele is a personal favorite, intense, believable and fun to read about, as all McBrides people are! Fast paced, can't put it down good, read this book, read the series, you won't be disappointed! Thanks to B&N for the free nook book, Cold Granite, that started me reading these excellent books!

I wrote earlier complaining about missing and/or duplicate pages, but called B&N and they had me archive the book, then unarchive it, and that fixed everything. Love this series!

Easily maintains your interest and difficult to put down. However do not read if you are not prepared to learn about disparate sexual behaviors.

I loaded this book onto my Nook for $.99 and was surprised at how good it was. My only negative comment is that there seemed to be a lot of characters and when some were referenced in a chapter then referenced again later, it was a bit tough trying to remember how they first came into the story. Other than that, well worth reading with a good ending.

This is the first novel I've read by MacBride and I loved it! It continued to twist and turn with several interesting subplots and very vivid descriptions of the characters. I enjoyed the jargon of the setting, and although I wasn't sure I knew all of the exact meanings, they were pretty self-explanatory in context. I WILL read more by this author!
