Meet the Author

Being born an "Army Brat", Erika Ashby has been residing in Oklahoma the last 10 years finally putting an end to the nomad tendencies she had grown accustomed to. She's a happily married woman who has 5 kids between her and her husband. She has an insane passion for music and embraces her Inner Groupie any chance she has. It wasn't until the age of 29 that she realized she also had a hidden passion for reading; before then she claimed to have hated it. Six months after unlocking that deep desire she never knew she held, she turned the key to another chapter of her life which has become the desire to write. And the rest is still history in the making.

    Spread your wings and fly!
This is an emotional story that will have you laughing and crying all in the same read. Lynsie and Lincoln are madly in love and looking towards their future. Dax is Lincoln's best friend and fellow pilot. What happens when the unthinkable happens and Lincoln is ripped from their lives and they are forced to move on?
Lynsie's journey of love, loss, grief, denial, anger, acceptance, and moving on is very powerful to witness. Her husband dies a hero, but she's left with nothing, or so she thinks. Lincoln leaves her with one parting gift that gives her a reason to smile again. Dax has to deal with his best friends dying wish to look after Lynsie and be there for her through his own struggles of losing Lincoln. To watch how two people who lost someone they loved deeply struggle to find a way to be happy again, was very emotional.
Lynsie shows us how weak yet strong a widow can be all at the same time.
This is one that I couldn't put down even through the tears and the sorrow I felt for these characters. Being a military wife, I whole heartedly relate to Lynsie about the unknown of a life loving your solider holds.

This book was like nails on a chalk board to me This book was like nails on a chalk board to me-

The actual storyline was okay, but the poor grammar, the tense changes within a sentence, the lack of rythm or "flow" throughout a paragraph? Too distracting by far. How many times must we read "breathe" when the contexr clearly dictated the word "breath."

Please, get yourself a proofreader who knows her stuff so that your next endeavor reads less like an English-as-a-seond-language-homework-assignment!

What can I say about this book? I have read all of Erika¿s books

What can I say about this book? I have read all of Erika’s books and enjoyed the stories. This book though- this book is a true gem.

Broken Wings is a story of true love. Best friends. Second chances. Ultimately making your life amazing even when it goes on a completely different path than you planned.

Emotionally this book hit all of them. Laughing with the banter between Lynsie and her friends, Dax and Lincoln. Heartbreak and sobbing with Lynsie and Dax, was sure my heart was broken as well. And joy- with Lynsie finding the strength to move forward, her friends and family being there and always having her back. And Dax- oh Dax.

Lincoln is an amazing man. The love he has for Lynsie is beautiful. His friendship with Dax is more like that of brothers. His dedication and love for his work is evident. Brave beyond words.

Dax- swoony swoony Dax! Poet. Pilot. Hero. Friend. He is there for Lynsie, putting his needs aside to help her through the most difficult time. But what do you do when the only thing you have ever wished for is staring at you in the face?

Beautifully written, heartbreaking love story with a twist. Loved it!
