Overview

This riveting first-of-its-kind collection of personal memoir includes stories written by dozens of native Bronxites, as well as by those whove arrived from the Dominican Republic, Maryland, USA, and Italy. This is the first title to be released by the Bronx Council on the Arts BCA Media publishing platform. The culmination of over fifty stories and artworks produced at twenty-five free memoir-writing workshops created by BCA in spring of 2014, these testimonies were inspired by the facilitation of professional writers of various disciplines, generating over fifty submissions of memoir penned by mostly unpublished writers.

Editorial Reviews

Welcome2TheBronx - Ed Conde Garca
The Bronx Memoir Project is a wondrous journey through the collective memories of Bronxites both young and mature, both lifelong residents and newer arrivals to our borough. Whether it recounts a date on Arthur Avenue or "accidentally" finding Fordham Road, this collection pulls from the many eras and decades that came to define, not only The Bronx, but its people. I'm eagerly anticipating the next volume in this beautiful series."
Author - Charles Rice-Gonzlez
"An amazing harvest of Bronx stories that bubble with bravado, pulse with pathos and shimmer with color. From traversing tenement hallways to gazing from rooftops, from burning landscapes to blazing sunsets, this chorus of over fifty voices belts a powerful ode to the Bronx--its checkered past and brilliant future."
