More About This Textbook

Everybody loves a great story, and Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery has many of New York's great stories to tell. Everyone who was anybody in nineteenth century New York wanted to be buried there, and they were. As The New York Times succinctly put in it 1866, "It is the ambition of the New Yorker to live upon Fifth Avenue, to take his airings in the (Central) Park, and to sleep with his fathers in Green-Wood."

One hundred and sixty years after its establishment, Green-Wood Cemetery is one of the world's great cemeteries. This is its story and the best stories of its almost 600,000 permanent residents.

This book offers stories and history about some of the most famous people in the world that are interred here from the 19th century to present. This cemetery was used as a park in the 19th century before Central Park was built. Highly recommended. Green-wood has some of the most amazing monuments. If you get a chance, go for walk there, its an amazing place.

    Incredible Cemetery, Incredible Book

Yeah, I bought this. I'm not even from New York! It has a nice history of the Cemetery and small biographies of the people interred there, a great selection of photos and I would think it's a decent book for anyone interested in history or cemeteries or cemetery history. The strangest part is the descriptions of 19th century tours, it was apparently very popular. If you are in the area, check out the tour!
