Gr 5-8-Tanya, an eighth grader, was used to being an only child. Then her mother had quadruplets-two boys and two girls. Now neither she nor her parents get much sleep and no one has time for much of anything beyond feeding, diapering, and rocking babies. Her exhausted father loses his job for dozing at his desk. When he shows up at her class play with crying babies, he not only embarrasses Tanya but also makes her angry. She feels that her parents no longer care about her. While she is feeling sorry for herself, she has a fight with her best friend. Soon she becomes friendly with a new girl who has a very different but not necessarily better home life. Written in diary format, this book tackles many of the feelings of an adolescent girl. Readers will be able to sympathize with Tanya as she comes to grips with change and learns to control her actions and emotions. A well-written and entertaining read.-Barb Lawler, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, PA Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.

Brother Brother Sister Sister is a good story about 13 year old Tanya, her friendships and life at home with 4 babies, therefore the title Brother Brother Sister Sister. At times words and abbreviations didn't make any sense. At other times the author leaves you hanging from day to day. You don't know what happened in the story.

Thirteen-year-old Tanya has been an only child for years, until her mother had Quadtuplets, two boys and two girls.(Sam and John,Jodie and Katie.) Now,Tanya's house is a complete dumpster. There is hardly any money(except for baby supplies),constant screaming, and no time at all to go anywhere fancy. Tanya meets a girl at school, only child Natalie who's mother is angry because her husband simply left and married and had two baby sons.Natalie's mother does not want her daughter hanging out with Tanya:She had been jealous of the Quad Babies. Then,an advertising group called the 'Superbaby' wanted babies for the commerical.Babies like the Quad Babies, and Tanya and her mother set off to buy outfits. At the Baby Shop at the mall, the clerk doesn't believe that the sweaters and sleepers are for Quad Babies. She thinks they are gifts.Even when Tanya's mother shows the clerk a picture of all four babies, the clerk doesn't believe this! When 'Superbaby' people come, they are late and the Quad Babies, who had been sweet and innocent, weren't happy anymore. John leaves urine on Jay,the 'Superbaby' man and the group leaves. In the end,Tanya is at the park and realizes the babies will crawl, walk, talk, and drink from real plates and cups like real people. She realizes she will be able to talk to the Quad Babies when they grow older. They will have fun. I definitely suggest you read this book,if you are an only child without diapers, screaming, sharing, and messes,or if you're the oldest of seven screaming, messy, younger brothers and sisters or just a baby lover (the youngest in the family),stuck with just a sibling or two,you can read this book.
