Overview

On August 30, 1993, Roberta Moore drove to work; it was a cold, rainy morning. She had left her two sons and little daughter at home with her husband. He was supposed to make sure they got dressed in time to catch the school bus.

She had been on the job for only thirty minutes when she received a call at 7:45 a.m. Roberta was surprised to hear her husband’s voice on the line. John Moore told his wife he couldn’t find their sons. Robert, 13, and Benjamin (Ben), 10, were missing.

At 8:25 a.m. the dispatcher with the Price County Sheriff’s Department answered a 911 call. Roberta said her husband had found their sons dead on a trail near their home.

Brothers Silenced unmasks the dysfunctional personal lives of this seemingly normal family. This shocking real life mystery proves truth is indeed stranger than fiction. Author Kathryn Jewel, spent over a year interviewing Roberta Moore and uncovering the many complex elements surrounding this case.

The ensuing finger pointing, inconsistencies, and religious obsession are explored in detail. Because of small town politics and petty jealousy within the sheriff’s department, critical mistakes were made.

Fans of the true crime genre will be both challenged and baffled as they are led through this psychological maze. Brothers Silenced analyzes the twists and turns of how and why two innocent children were shot to death and left in the woods so close to their home.

    Not very good

Aside from bashing the entire family of those two murdered boys, in addition to the entire investigative effort (or lack thereof), there was no point to this book. No closer to a motive or a suspect. Exposed the incompetence of the police, if that was the point.

    What did I just read?

Broken English, broken rules of grammar, apostrophes and quotation marks simply everywhere...I have no idea what the hell I just read or what the author intended to convey. Worst book ever.

    Interesting Story - Horrible Editing

    1) Without the extremely wide margins, this would have been a 150 page book rather than a 217 page book. Most of us stopped trying to pad our work in high school.
    2) The editing/proofreading is pathetic. There are very few examples of possessives/plurals/contractions being used properly. Thereare also many sentence fragments, split infinitives and other mistakes in grammar.
Even though the book was inexpensive, it is so poorly written and edited it is not worth reading.

    Interesting story, terrible punctuation

Very difficult read. Quotes around every sentence in a paragraph and excessive incorrect use of apostrophe. Author truly needs to learn the difference between plural and possessive. So sad for the boys, but the errors kept distracting me from what mattered: the need for justice for these two innocents. I won't buy this author's work again.

    So sad...

No answers, only more questions raised. These poor little boys, it is clearly homicide and poor police work but the mother is a loose canon who only muddies the water with conspiricy theories and fantastic accusations. I pity the author who had the best intentions but was so mis-led and abused by the delusional mother that she even gave up trying to find to the truth. I think only a confession by the killer will end this sordid story.

    Sad

Well written book...but very sad, there is no justice for these two innocent boys..the truth i feel lies between their parents. Somthing needs to be done to get this case re-opened and give these young innocent children closure, with all the technology out there surely they can get the monster or monsters who took these boys lives and bring them to justice!! It saddens me how our justice system failed these innocent boys.......Bn

    Excellent Read!!

This was an excellent read, whether you like true crime genra or not. I could not put it down. The twists and turns, I had to know what would happen next. This is a sad story of two brothers who were killed in cold blood and the investiagion that yeilded nothing! The determination and strength is seen in the authors writing. She did a wonderful job in presenting the true story, and the facts of what happened afterwards as well. I cannt wait for her next book!
