Overview

For Bruce Olson it meant capture, disease, terror, loneliness and torture. But what he discovered by trial and error has revolutionized the world of missions. Living with the Motilone Indians since 1961, Olson's efforts have also won him the friendship of four presidents of Colombia and appearances before the United Nations. This updated edition of Bruchko includes the story of his 1988 kidnapping by communist guerrillas and the ten months of captivity that followed. Bruce Olson's story will amaze you and remind you that simple faith in Christ can make anything possible.

The book I couldn't put down

This is probably the best true story I have ever read. I kept reading and reading and reading. The content was great, realistic, and easy to imagine. I thoroughly enjoyed and have read it many times, finding new things I didn't notice every time.

I couldn't put this book down!

This is a must read book for anyone and everyone. It is written simply enough to be understood by children, while having truths that mature adults will try to grasp and understand.

I'm only 12 and I loved the book!

I was assigned to read it for church 2 years ago, and I'm glad I did. It shows just how much and how many things people can do if they except Jesus in their hearts, have faith in the lord, and never give up.

    an AMAZING story...

This book is incredible. It's one of my favorite books ever. I've read it twice, and when I read I want to go out and do what Bruce Olson did! He had an incredible faith and trust in God, even in terrible circumstances. And through His obedience God did mighty things among the Motilone. This is a book I would recommend to anyone, anywhere!

    Inspiring

I absolutely loved this book. I was a little hesitant to read it at first, but after my second try at reading it I was hooked and could not put it down. At times it made me sad and at other times it made me laugh. This was a really inspiring and uplifting story for me.

    this is a fantastic book!!

I admire Bruce¿s courage in going as a missionary to the hostile Motilone tribe in the heart of South America. It is a interesting book that is very hard to put down. It is a must-read for everyone and I strongly recommend it.

    A Very Good Book

Bruchko was great because it teached me to see why he had so much success spreading the gospel. It was really because he didn't mke the Motilones conform to American culture but yet he told them the gospel in a way they could understand and apply to their everyday lives. The next book i read after this was the Heavenly Man and it is the best book i have ever read (after the bible of course). So if you like Bruchko, read the Heavenly Man!!!

    This Book is Pure Gold!

I love this book! It's the best non-ficton book ever! Bruce isn't egotistical about his accomplishments yet doesn't try to underestimate the worth of what he does. And he shows how missionaries can change a civilization for the better without overhauling it and without bloody civil wars and revolutions. I have recommended this to several people and will gladly recommend it to the world!

    This book is AWESOME!

Well I can't say much more that this book is really awe inspiring about how God can use a person. I have to admit that this is the first book I've ever read in one night, and I am a slow reader. I enjoyed this book so much that after I read it I bought two other copies to share with friends.

    Great look at different cultures

This book is really exiting. The character goes about explaining his life honestly and not full of himself. He goes through things like deprission, exitment, discovery, and mildness toward God. One cool thing about this book is how the main caracter keeps wanting to go somewhere but God takes him somewhere totally different. It is also a book about how Jesus changes the inside of us and how Americans like to see the outside of other people change. I suggest reading this book not just because it is full of Jesus-Freakness but also it is full of intesting cultures and it gives a sharp understanding of them I haven't read in any other books. The Cultures you will learn a lot about in this book are that of several indian groups in Columbia, Hispanic Venasualians, and Luterans from Minnesota.
