This nonfiction book details the life an alligator named Bubba who has been trained to be gentle around people. Bubba¿s trainer is the co-author of the book, Jim Nesci. Bubba tours the country going to schools and parties and answers simple commands such ¿sit¿ and ¿walk¿. Some students even get the privilege of riding on the alligator. If I had not seen Bubba in person, I would never believe that he is a real alligator. The illustrations in the book are drawn in a child-like coloring book format. There are no actual photographs of the alligator. Bubba is also pictured in the book doing the impossible such as walking on two legs, showing a filmstrip, sunbathing on a lawn chair, and eating in a restaurant. This makes the tricks that Bubba can perform seem unrealistic. Reading this book, I don¿t believe students will think this is a real alligator that can perform tricks. This really is a cute book to read, but it does not inform the reader about the amazing tricks Bubba can really do.
