Just as fantastic as the series!

The Long Way Home doesn't start exactly where the last television season of Buffy left off, instead it starts a little past that, after Buffy and her crew have restarted their lives. In some ways, things are very different, but in others, they're exactly the same. Each character seems to have taken a level of bad ass as they push forward in the fight against evil in their own ways.

Training the new slayers for a fight that's longer and more eventful than the epic big bad battle season seven kissed viewers goodbye with, Buffy still has issues, and still has a ton of problems, including; Andrew, Willow's sometimes tenuous hold on her personal darkness, Dawn's feelings of uselessness and need for attention, Xander's everlasting support that might just be more than friendly and a cadre of teen girls to wrangle, train and keep alive.

On a part-training mission, Buffy and some of her trainees interrupt a demon ritual and discover the human prey all have the same strange symbol carved into their chest. More than just a casual encounter, the crew get to work trying to unravel the larger plot only to be distracted by a series of villains, who like good antagonists, never seem to go away completely. So between high school rivals, still bent on revenge, the military declaring Buffy's operation a terrorist sect, giant sized little sisters and a mass zombie attack The Long Way Home doesn't skip a beat, thrusting beloved characters right back where fans love to see them, with the same humor and mix of horror and fantasy that Buffy is famous for.

There couldn't be a better continuation of the Buffy-verse and with such a die-hard audience we can hope this new, more affordable, and in some ways more flexible, series will continue for a long time to come.

    Too Sci-Fi

I LOVED the show, but as i opened this continuation i found myself going, 'Oh why Joss, oh why?'. This turned into a sci-fi secret agent comic with cheesey humor that didn't mix with the clever popculture refferences i was used to from the show. One thing was Biffy was wielding guns that looked straight out of the X-men comics that were set in the future, i am a comic reader and realize that this is a theme in comics, but it just doesn't belong in Buffy.

    Buffy Lives!

For any Buffy fan this is a must! Once the series ended Buffy fans worldwide were devastated and wondering 'What happens next?'. These graphic novels are a wonderful way of continuing the story of the Slayer. The action is just like in the shows. The dialog is still biting and witty. It is wonderful to be drawn back into the Buffyverse. The drawings are amazing as well, the characters are captured wonderfully. I can't wait to read the next one.

Whedon's Buffy jumps from screen to page almost perfectly!

I didn't know what to expect but was really pleased with Whendon's Season Eight of Buffy. I liked that the story doesn't take place exactly the day after season seven's finale. Most season premiere's don't. This leaves many ideas to sort through and stories to be told. Jeantty's art is gorgeous and makes all the human figures recognizable. Can't wait for volume two.

Cool new way to enjoy Buffy

I often go through BTVS withdraws, so I finally bought this just to see if it would satisfy my Buffy cravings, and you know what? It did! I'm not a big comic book/graphic novel person so I didn't know if I would like it. As soon as I was done reading this I bought the next four issues.

    Buffy Magic!

It's not the same as the show. Yes it's only a comic with lots of plot holes. But it's still Buffy and it's a continuing the show. Buffy, Willow, Xander, Dawn, and all the missed characters. The story is interesting and all the new slayers are awsome. If your a Buffy Fan you have to read the novels! LOVE IT BUFFY 4EVER!!!

    Whendon Pulls It Off

At first I didn't know what to think of the season eight being put on paper. I didn't think it would work without the characters, but I read great review and my curiosity won over my skeptisism and boy I REALLY don't regret it. Whendon had me klinging to every word and action. The art is breath-taking ,especially the covers, and even though the characters weren't played out with the actor counter parts they just felt the same. Willow still had the sense of Willow, Buffy was Buffy Xander Xander down to there dialogue and even there expressions on the page.

It still has the Whendon drama and humor we all feel in love with throuhout the series and then some. I would recomend this series to any Buffy fan looking to continue the thrill ride that is Buffy. I was extremly satisfied and can't wait until volume 5, predator and prey, volume 6, retreat and so on are realeased.

    Great!

This is a great way to continue the series. I have all 7 seasons and I wish they could make more, but this graphic novel is just as good.
