Reunion

Life on the Hellmouth — a.k.a. Sunnydale, California — has always involved a steady parade of demons intent on ruining Buffy Summers's nightlife. Staying at the top of her game means Buffy's racked up some powerful enemies.

Now an old nemesis has returned: Ethan Rayne, a college "friend" of Giles's, has arrived in Sunnydale, and this time he actually wants Buffy's help. Not surprisingly, he's run afoul of The First — an ancient evil that predates humankind. And now The First has made Ethan a deal he can't refuse: ultimate power. All he has to do is lure Buffy into battle.

With their sanity on the line, the gang is going to need all the help they can get. Enter Spike and Faith...

The walls between the past and the present, and between this dimension and others are breaking down. Buffy Summers knows that the key to all this is her arch-nemesis Ethan Rayne, who literally worships Chaos.

This book was the best book. But the only down fall was there was a lot of blood spilled in this book. I also think that there should have been more Spike. I love Spike! But oh well. Anyway, this book was great!

    I liked this book

I think this book was actually pretty good and was more decent in its rendering of Spike than MANY that I have read. It takes place near the end of season 5 after Joyce dies, but before Spike tells Buffy that he loves her. It is taken out of time and ignores the Dawn as the Key issue, but that is okay. Being based on a video game, it does, as was mentioned, lack any subplots and keeps its characters on the run through a night that should have probably killed them, especially Buffy. Still yet, I thought that it was entertaining and we got to see the individual characters fighting both together and separately. A pretty good read all in all.

    Chaos Bleeds

I agree with most of the reviews, it certainly is not the best Buffy book I've read. There's non-stop action which I guess is ok since they made a video game on it and all there is, is fighting...the video game is much better than the book. It's different though...and I'm a MAJOR Spike fan, notta lotta Spike! It was a disappointment.

Blood and Gore Start to Finish

The main reason I rated this novel so poorly is that it evidenced no discernible plot. Buffy and her friends fought from start to finish - demon after demon. Zero character development, and none of the inteaction between characters that makes the show 'Buffy' and many of the novels special. Also no consideration to things like that Buffy would need to rest, or eat, and that her friends would make sure she got those things, even if she was bent on denying herself. Guess that's covered under NO character development. So if you like your plot to be battle and nothing else, you might give this story a 5. I would advise most folks not to spend the money for this title.

Avoid if You're a Spike Fan

It should come as no surprise that Spike, and his fans, are once again treated like the red-headed stepchildren of Buffy fandom. This book goes out of it's way to insult and degrade Spike. The author clearly has a problem with the character, and should probably focus his efforts on season 1 or 3 Buffy in the future. If you're a Spike fan, you won't enjoy this novel, so I suggest you don't waste your money on it.

    great book

a great book for any buffy fans-it's easy to get started on it, and it brings back the character Sid the dummy from the show's first season. it draws you in with an immediate major fight scene at the Magick Box, and strings you along with almost non-stop action. it also has a lot of Spike in it, for James Marsters fans. Ethan Rayne also returns as, once again, the villan without a clue. a great read for a lazy day.
