Are you ready to meet the fastest flyers, the loudest buzzers, and the sneakiest ambushers in Montana?

Author and biologist Deborah Richie Oberbillig introduces you to forty of Montana's most mind-boggling bugs and their incredible feats.

You'll meet:
•A giant bug that attacks fish and frogs, injecting its digestive juices then sucking out the liquefied organs!

•A bug that has antifreeze in its blood, allowing it to live on the snow in winter!

•A bug that lives inside a home made of "spit"!

And many more!

Robert Rath's beautiful color illustrations bring these amazing creatures to life.

Editorial Reviews

Pundits joke that Montana has fewer than a million people but more than a billion insects. Even the briefest visit to the state's wilderness introduces you to its rampant resident bug populations. Deborah Oberbillig's compact Bug Feats of Montana sorts out these little critters in the most entertaining way, differentiating them by identifying their weirdest attributes. In these pages, you'll painlessly encounter a Treasure State bug who lives inside a home made of saliva and another who has antifreeze in his blood, enabling him to get through any winter!

Fun and informative, Deborah Richie Oberbillig's "Bug Feats Of Montana" is the newest addition to the Farcountry Explorer series. Superbly illustrated on every page by Robert Rath, "Bug Feats Of Montana" provides children and their parents with information on commonly encountered insects in Montana's yards, gardens, and fields. Of special note are the 'Bug Finding Tips' to guide young and inquiring minds in their pursuit of finding and identifying the insects listed in "Bug Feats Of Montana". Each insect is showcased with background information that is informed, informative, and thoroughly 'kid friendly'. "Bug Feats Of Montana" is enthusiastically recommended for family, school, and community library collections -- and would serve wonderfully well as a template for similar compendiums on insect life in other sections of the country.
