    Excellent resource.

I just finished the weekend-long bamboo fence building class at the Portland Japanese Garden. This was the recommended text, and contains all the material covered. Wonderful color photos of gardens and fences, good step-by-step photo directions for tying the important knots, cutting the bamboo, and much more. Very well worded, articulate and inspiring. A good companion and by the same author is "Japanese Gardening in Small Spaces" with similar instructions and content, but the photo instructions for the knot tying are in color and show the cord with a red end and a white end for extra clarity. I will be using this information from the class and these two books to build bamboo screens for my garden.
