Overview

If we are to build tomorrow’s leaders, today, it would help if we knew what skills, temperaments, and specific competencies will be valuable as we face future needs. What will tomorrow look like? What key factors are we likely to confront tomorrow? If the past is prelude, the world of tomorrow will be characterized by rapid change, new technology, greater diversity, more globalization and the need for lifelong learning. This book will focus on leadership; what it is, how it works, and how complex, multi-layered and multi-dimensional it is. As a political scientist and presidential scholar, Michael Genovese incorporates a wide range of disciplinary perspectives and research on leadership in this book. Students, practitioners and leadership scholars will welcome this new book and its look to the future.

Michael Genovese and Tom Cronin won the 2013 Leadership Book of the year award at ILA in Montral for their book LEADERSHIP MATTERS:Unleashing the Power of Paradox

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"Michael Genovese is among the more thoughtful and accomplished of our social scientists. No surprise, then, that this latest in his long line of books, Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today, is as grounded in the classics as in the contemporaneous context. The book has the advantage of being short and to the point—while providing a careful and considered framework for what leadership development in the second decade of the 21st century might look like."

Barbara Kellerman, Harvard University, USA

"Michael Genovese is a terrific scholar, teacher, and storyteller on the realities of what it takes to be an effective leader. This is a superbly written, fascinating page-turner of a leadership primer—provocative and compelling!"

Thomas E. Cronin, Colorado College, USA

"Only a polymath like Genovese could write a leadership book that is grounded in serious scholarship but written with a warmth and wit that welcomes all readers."

—Joanne B Ciulla, Jepson School of Leadership Studies, University of Richmond
