Take Steve. Very sexy-but on paper, with three failed marriages and a shady career, maybe not great husband material. And yes, his ring tone is "Freebird." Fellow Babes Shea and Pilar definitely vote thumbs down. But maybe there's more to Steve than meets the eye. Is it time for Kitty to roll the dice and hope that she can be as lucky in love as she is in Bunco?

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
A north Florida realtor with an abysmal romantic history continues her quest for a suitable man in Geraci's formulaic debut. Kitty Burke is the only single gal in her circle of friends who get together every week to gossip, play dice and drink. But then she meets Steve, a plumber and multiple divorcé who seems like a horrible Mr. Right, but an excellent Mr. Right Now. As Kitty's personal life heats up, her professional life does, too: she is offered a chance to broker a new condo development, something that will be very unpopular in her town, but very good for her pocketbook. Things, however, are not as they seem, in love or business. While genre fans will feel at home with Kitty, who is attractive, somewhat successful and, like her pals, full of quirks, her story is woefully unoriginal. This disposable diversion's good for a few laughs, but not much more.

Sacramento Book Reviews
Bunco Babes Tell All is a refreshing story about the importance of women's friendships crossed with the situational humor of a romantic comedy. Kitty Burke is a real estate agent who relies on her friends and weekly bunco parties to cope with an uncertain real estate market and an even more uncertain love life. Kitty is at once naïve and ambitious with a tendency to act before thinking things through. Her life is a series of awkward moments and best intentions gone awry. Maria Geraci's characters are likeable, and it is easy to relate to Kitty's embarrassment at making foolish mistakes or her regret at spilling secrets to feel important. Kitty's romantic interest is the stereotypical mysterious stranger with whom she feels an instant attraction, and the romance is beset with the usual misunderstandings and the requisite happy ending making the storyline feel a bit formulaic. The adult scenes are steamy enough to make some readers uncomfortable but will not surprise veteran fans of romance novels. A primer on how to play bunco, along with recipes for appetizers and drinks to serve at a bunco party, is included as a bonus at the end of the book.
—Laurie Racca
The Baltimore Sun
After falling hopelessly in love with Kevin Costner in the movie "Bull Durham," Kitty Burke spent years searching for the Hollywood actor's real-world counterpart. Then one night Steve Pappas turns up to fix her broken toilet, and Kitty thinks she just may have found her man. Even though both her life-long friends (and fellow bunco babes), Pilar and Shea, tell her that thrice-divorced, career-challenged Steve is nothing but trouble, Kitty is willing to risk throwing the romantic dice with him if it means winning a shot at true love. Geraci's sexy, funny debut is an emotionally satisfying story of love, friendship, family and community.
—John Charles

    Fun-Fantastic Read!

My thoughts...Woot, Woot, party time! I read a summary for the the next book, Bunco Babes Gone Wild and thought it sounded really funny. So I was very pleased when Maria graciously sent me a copy of the first book to review. I really enjoyed Bunco Babes Tell All. Let me first say, send the kiddies to their room, 'cause this book is for the grown-ups only. There were some really steamy scenes throughout the book. They were tasteful, but I caught myself with my mouth hanging open on numerous occasions. Kitty is 35, childless and single, not to mention smart, beautiful and charming. Her toilet gets clogged during her weekly Bunco game and she has to call a plumber to come (ahem) unclog her toilet. Steve, who we discover is not really a plumber, is our very sexy, very mysterious hero. Kitty has her work cut out for her, because Steve is like a closed book, except in bed.

Maria Garaci did a wonderful job writing a witty story about love, trust and friendship. The Bunco babes are friends that everyone wants. They are loyal, fun and know how to have a good time. Their motto is 'what happens at Bunco, stays at Bunco". Each weekly game usually reveals some sort of drama (good or bad) as they share their signature drinks. I am encouraged to get my girls together for a night of games and goodies. This story reminds me how much I love and need my friends.

This is the first book outside of the paranormal genre that I have read in a while. I had a hard time putting it down. Bunco Babes Tell All is a fun, light-hearted read and I recommend it to all mature readers. There is even a "how-to" section in the back of the book so you can organize your own Bunco night. The next book in the series, Bunco Babes Gone Wild is on the top of my shopping list. I recommend you add it to yours too! Be sure to go to Maria's website to read about some real Bunco groups, get some ideas for your own party menu and take the fun quiz to see which Bunco girl you are, I'm a Kitty.

Don't know what Bunco is? Don't need to!

Roll the dice with the Bunco Babes of Whispering Bay. The book opens with the main character giving up her childhood crush on Crash Davis, but very quickly remembering why she's loved him for so long when Steve the Plumber walks into her house. He's got charm, wit, and a touch of bad boy that makes her weak in the knees.

This book is shelved in General Fiction, but it is contemporary romance at its finest. It's laugh out loud funny. Kitty is one of the most realistic fictional characters I've ever read and you immediately sympathize with her. That sympathy grows as the story develops.

Geraci does a fantastic job in her debut novel and I for one can't wait for the follow up, BUNCO BABES GONE WILD!

    Loved this book!

The characters in this book were wonderful and I became quick friends with them. The stories of their lives were believable and imaginative. This was a great summer beach read!

Asolid look at the importance of relationships

In Whispering Bay, as she turns thirty-five, Florida realtor Kitty Burke does what she does on Thursday night, play the dice game bunco while drinking margaritas with her friends. However, this week Kitty feels a tad lonely as she is the last woman standing single; all the other bunco players are married.----------------

Kitty is attracted to trice married handyman Steve when he fixes her toilet. He stays the night and they both enjoy the tryst. However, neither is in the market for more than an occasional fling if they can keep it secret from their neighbors. Soon as her mom is considering selling their dilapidated home which Kitty hopes to buy, she wonders if she should take a chance and play bunco with Steve as her desire for him has grown to what might make this three time loser her Mr. Right. ------------------

Inane title aside, BUNCO BABES TELL ALL is a solid look at the importance of relationships; whether it is just playing bunco with friends once a week, humans need contact. None of the characters are very deep especially since their flaws are no developed yet the premise shines through that people need caring people. Fans will want to roll the dice with Maria Geraci's bunco babes as we can't lose reading how Kitty and Steve both win at Bunco if they play together.
