Meet the Author

Gelett Burgess was the author of some forty-four books, and died in 1951 at the age of eighty-five. Paul Dickson is the author of Slang: The Topical Dictionary of Americanisms, among many language books. He lives in Garrett Park, Maryland.

This book looks like so much fun; a comedic look at turn-of-the-century language (it was written in 1914). But the formatting problems make it pretty hard to read; the columns are messed-up, so the words don't actually line up with their definitions! I'll have search for a better copy somewhere else, I guess.
