    A reviewer

Robert Marx has definitely done his research which, if you're doing any treasure hunting other than just coin shooting, you absolutely have to do. Marx gives great introductions into the different types of treasure hunting and an excellent explanation of metal detectors and how they work. The book is a few years old but still has great information on modern day metal detectors. There are some typos and don't expect all of the information for your state to be spelled correctly. Also Marx is very honest about the information contained in the book. He tells you straight out that the rumored treasures are just that: rumors. You have to do your own research and investigating. As he points out, if he already knew for certain that it exists and where it is located, he would have already retrieved it. His listings of ghost towns within each state is very accurate though so those of you who enjoy ghost towning, this is an excellent book to help give you some ideas of locations. No maps are provided though, so you should also pick up an atlas or almanac for your specific state. This was the first treasure hunting book that I bought when I started to get serious about metal detecting and treasure hunting and I have not regretted the purchase. The author is good friends with Charles Garrett of Garrett metal detectors and whom also owns Ram Publishing (which published the book) and uses only Garrett equipment so expect that the information provided on metal detectors is showing pictures of Garrett metal detectors and descriptions of Garrett equipment.

    Exeptional book

The book gives so many locations in the entire US. It recomended my local Redwood Forest. And I found a gold coin. The four things that make me sucessful metal detecting are my Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202, this book, my trowel, and my sifting pan. I think this book is the best.
