I LOVE to read and I have many favorite authors but I have never been able to say that I absolutely love everything that an author writes...until Tara Sivec. It doesn't matter if it's a funny and crazy story, a story that tugs at your heart or as in this case, an "eroctic" story. She pulls you into the book and makes you feel EVERY emotion that the character(s) feel.
For those of you unsure of this story, all I can say is READ IT!!! It is a beautiful story about love, finding yourself, and having the strength to move on. The sexy times are secondary to the story line but serve to demonstrate how powerful love and passion can be when you are with the right person.
I give this book a HUGE 5 stars. I laughed, I cried, and I even cheered Finnely and Collin on. I loved every minute of it.

~Once wasn’t enough. Twice wasn’t sufficient. Every day until I die wouldn’t stop the burn.~
Thoughts into words. Thoughts into words. I keep repeating this mantra, because after literally JUST finishing this book, I am a jumble of emotions. I can hear everything I want to say in my head, but it won’t quiet down enough to put the proverbial pen to paper. From the minute that Tara announced this book into existence, I knew I HAD to have it. Unlike any of her other books, it was in a genre all its own. Breaking the mold, and busting through the damn door, this was contemporary erotica at its best. And while the sex scenes were scorching, for me, it wasn’t the main focus of the book. This book was, in its purest form, a love story. A story of dreams thought read coming back to life. A story of recovering from a life you thought you were stuck in. A story of love that never truly dies. It was a story of rekindling, and Tara lit the pages up!
~To hell with maybe. I’ve spent seventeen years building a life on f***ing maybes.~
I can say, without a doubt, that Finnley and Collin are the BEST characters I have ever read. Tara is a master of her talent, and what she excels in is writing characters that everyone can relate to; characters that have heart and soul and are just like you and me. When you start one of her books, that awkward adjustment period you find yourself in with many others simply doesn’t exist within her pages. She’s a reader’s writer. The connection with the characters, even the ones you loathe, is instantaneous. Like old friends you haven’t seen for years, everything just falls into place once you are together again. It’s as if no time has passed and it just feels as natural as breathing. This was much like the relationship of Finnley and Collin. High school sweethearts who split, now seventeen years later, on the heels of her filing for separation from her husband, they come back into each other’s lives. Their connection is instant, but not instant love; rather a love that never really died. I can’t decide what I enjoyed more; their present or their past. I think I loved them equally for completely different reasons. In the past, we are gifted a glimpse into how perfect they were for each other; how well they complemented one another. They came into each other’s lives at a time when they both needed it, and that translates into adulthood in the same manner. Learning from the mistakes of their past, when they are reunited, it’s magic on the pages. Time has changed them, but yet it didn’t. When I wasn’t burning with lust, this book just made me smile. There’s no one specific reason why, it was just one of those books that clicked. It was everything.
~Maybe Collin came into my life at this point in time because I was finally ready for him.~
I loved that they just GOT each other. Though one minor bump in the road in the beginning, they just fell naturally into place. It was then that I realized that some things truly DO happen for a reason. There was a sense of dread from the beginning, and you aren’t really sure how it’s going to end. I knew how I wanted to end, but I was on the edge of my seat the entire book to see if it was realized. Was it? Well, you’ll just have to find out for yourself. I will say this. There were tears. Big, fat, crocodile tears. I couldn’t stop them if I tried. But I also wouldn’t change a single moment. It’s been a while since I felt this strongly about a book and I think it’s finally pulled me out my slump.
~“I would have sacrificed everything to make your dreams come true, Lee.”~
If there were one perfect song I could think of to sum up this book, it would be Nickelback’s Far Away. Bonus? Like Collin, there are firefighters in the video. Oh, did I not mention that Collin is a firefighter?! How amiss of me ;-) So yeah. Dirty talking firefighter, phenomenally talented heroine, and two characters with hearts splayed open for the world to see. This book was the perfect storm of emotions and I don’t ever want to recover. And it’s aptly titled, because it will burn your panties right off!
~“You are everything to me, Finnley, everything. I have loved you since I was fifteen years old and I’m never going to stop.”~

I went to bed wanting to read something that would help me go to sleep. A nice light read where boy meets girl, falls in love, marriage, babies, and a HEA. What I mistakenly did was dive in to Burned with my eyes shut. I could not stop reading and was up until I finished. At that point my heart was racing, I was in love with a new book boyfriend, and sleep was nowhere on the horizon. Burned, while not what I was looking for in the moment, was an AMAZING read! I'd stay up all night with Collin anytime.

The book was short and boring. I skimmed most of it. The author needs to do research before writing about medical scenes. The book was mostly about sex they were having or repeating a previous sex scene that we've already read about and they were all just like so many, many other books. Nothing original here.

Tara is an amazing author. Your reading her words and you can actually see the scene unfold as if it were in front of you. The scenes were so steamy you almost blushed wondering if anyone was reading over your shoulder. Please read her other books she always has great humor. Was this review helpful? I loved this book!!! I really had no clue what it was about. I bought it and was a little mad because it was only 126 pages on the nook. But trust me it didnt need to be longer. Great read! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

When I found out Sivec was writing an erotic novel, I have to admit that I did a *bouncy clap*. And Burned didn't disappoint. It was delicious from start to finish. From the moment I read the prologue, I was consumed.
What worked for me:
~I loved Finnley and Collin's story. I loved that they had dated in high school, he broke her heart, she always wondered (and stalked him on Facebook) what happened to him, and at a very difficult moment in her life...they reconnect. Who can't relate to wondering what ever happened to so and so? I know I certainly have. And this story made me think.
~Finnley's strength was something to be admired. Living with someone with an addiction or illness can be challenging in so many ways. Finnley finally had to get to a point with Jordan that was her bottom line. I completely understood how she felt about feeling numb to the whole situation. My heart went out to her, but I still felt glad that she was getting herself out of a bad situation.
~Collin. I love him. He is sexy, sweet, and dedicated. And the fact that he was a firefighter may have contributed to the panty soaker level. (Which was a solid 5/5.)
~I love Seraphina and DJ and I'm hoping Sivec is writing their book. They MUST have a book.
~The sex was scorching. Sex scenes between people who have intense chemistry and simply trust each other, really gets me going. The vulnerability and the intimacy made the scenes intensely hot.
~Collin is Finnley's hero. Period. Win.
What didn't work for me:
~I figured out the plot almost immediately. Like, in the prologue. I can't really say it made me dislike the book, but it did affect my rating.
~I felt there were a few inconsistencies surrounding the separation/divorce.
Overall, I really enjoyed Burned. The story just felt so real to me. There were many times I felt like I could almost see the scenes playing out. That makes a great read for me. If you're looking for scorchingly hot book, I would definitely recommend checking this one out!
~When a woman can look you right in the eye and tell you she just doesn't care anymore and can do it without any emotion clouding her features, it's time to take her seriously.-Loc 182
~When the tears never came and all I could think about was that I just wanted him to gone, I knew there was no turning back.
I was done.-Loc 182
~"You're thinking with your vagina for once instead of your head and your heart. I say it's a win all around."-Loc 971
~"You cloud my judgement, Collin. You make me feel alive for the first time in years and that scares the hell out of me."-Loc 1222
~"...You were my fire, Collin. I lost the desire to play with it when you left."-Loc 1574

Burned, by Tara Sivec, is phenomenal. I read the entire book in one day and was frustrated when it was over. I wanted more. The book is told in alternating points of view~ each chapter or two the perspective changes, as did my emotions. I was on a roller coaster right along with Finnley.
Finnley has been with the same man for 17 years. She has supported, loved, and given her life for Jordan and she is done. He's a liar, a cheat, and an addict who has sucked the life out of her. It was time to move on and even though she'd given so much to him, in the end she had nothing left to give.
Lucky for Finnley, she still has her best friend and family for support and as luck would have it, her first love has sauntered back into her life. Collin rejected her in high school and she thought all she felt for him was long over and done. Surprise! The sparks between them are still flying 17 years later. And the sexual chemistry between them is hot. I had to fan myself a few times! The great thing about Finnley and Collin is that they got to know each other again. Little by little, day by day, they took the time.
Turns out time was not on their side and they have to meet challenges neither of them expected. I won't give those challenges away, because those are the times in the book I was on the edge of my seat and are too good to share. You must read this book and fall in love with the strong female protagonist and Collin, the smokin' hot fireman.

Hot! Hot! Hot!
Burned is definitely one of the hottest books I've ever read. Tara Sivec did an amazing job bringing Finnley and Colin to life. She also has
a way with words, bringing the story to life, I could almost feel Finnley's pain towards the end of the story. I highly recommend this book!
