    The Ultimate Tattoo Reference

If you have ANY interest in tattoos whatsoever you NEED this book! The Kitamuras definetly know what they're talking about and this book is packed with history and information of Japanese tattooing that can be found nowhere else. Plus, the photos are absolutely gorgeous. I can't recommend this highly enough!

Well written for anyone and everyone

I am a graduate student doing a thesis about tattooing. I find this book appealed to both my academic and personal interest. The pictures are fantastic, and frequent! I liked that you could see the whole body in perspective, as well as beautiful close ups. The Kitamuras have an easy-going and interesting way of getting across a lot of information to give anyone a well-organized and accurate view of Japanese tattooing (past and present), while proposing their theory of this representing the Japanese concept of the warrior (both in traditional and modern times).
