Description: This book takes an in-depth, insightful look into sports and business and how they collide. It examines these two areas from almost every possible angle and illustrates the similarities and differences between everyday business and the business of sports.
Purpose: The book exposes the inner workings and behind-the-scenes action that drives sports. It shares information so that fans, students, and business people can understand sports beyond wins and losses. It helps people understand sports on a significantly deeper level, which is valuable given the popularity of sports around the world.
Audience: Students at the graduate level and higher looking for a better understanding of the intersection of sports and business are the intended audience. This book is an important read for any business student and certainly those who hope for a future in sports.
Features: Covering different sports across the globe, the book discusses the similarities and differences in how they are structured. It ties in the various sports business models and demonstrates the various perspectives of teams, front office executives, media, and coaches. It goes into detail rarely seen when discussing sports teams, leagues, and players.
Assessment: I'm very impressed with this book. It would be very difficult come up with a business-related question pertaining to sports that does not have some kind of answer or explanation somewhere in this book.
