My daughter got this as a baby and we read it so much that at age 9 we both can recite it by memory. The perfect blend of humor and rhyme with engaging illustrations.
I now love to give it as a gift. It is hard to beat Sandra Boynton for the little ones.

I used to read this book to my twins when they were little, and we all had it memorized. They're now 18, seniors in high school, and we love to reminisce about reading it. I've lost the book during these many years and moves, but I'm thrilled to have found it at Barnes and Nobel. I plan to buy two copies to give my children as keepsakes.

This is the all time favorite bedtime book at our house. Both of my daughters (now 10 and 17) and myself have it memorized and we refer to it often. I'm getting ready to introduce my nephew to this lovely, engaging, classic book.

Have read this over and over and over. Coloful and a favoirte of my little one who loves the story and pictures and the fact she can turn the pages. The rhymes are cute and the story is short enough to hold her attention. She has been listening to it since her 1st Birthday.

I've given this book, along with the other 7 board books from Boynton, to my niece and many of my friends' toddlers as gifts. They are fun to read, perfect for children who get distracted easily and very colorful. My niece, Madisen, consistently says, 'read it again, please.' I especially enjoy 'But Not the Hippopotamus.'

My 19 month-old absolutely loves this book! The 1st copy finally died of too much use (I know-what a great problem to have!). We have most of the Boynton books, but this is one we read over and over and over again.

I love this book! I give it often to young children. It is about inclusion. The book fosters discussion about acceptance and being friends. Extremely important lessons for children.

My daughter just loves to say "Hey!" with the same enthusiasm we use when reading this book. We even quote passages from it..."but she just doesn't know...should she stay...should she go? But Yes! the Hippopotamus...but NOT the armadillo!
It's the cutest book and fun for the parents as much as for the child. One of our favorite Boynton board books and we must have about eight!

This is our favorite of the Sandra Boynton books. It's a fun read for both the parent and the child and has great repeatability. My husband and I both love reading this book to our son.
