Endearing little book about social acceptance--the hippo sees different groups of animals doing fun things that she would like to do, but instead she remains in the background watching the others have fun and silently wishing she could fit in. By the end of the book, the animals come together in a positive hurrah to ask her to join their group of friends. At first she questions whether she should as she has felt left out up till now, but in the final moment, she joins the group! The last page shows a lonely armadillo watching the other animals have fun, much like the hippo did in the beginning of the story, and so the cycle continues. ;) Adorable tone as usually with this author!!
