Editorial Reviews

Brian Keene
Entertaining and thought provoking, M. Stephen Lukac's Vents is the rightful heir to Thomas Monte Leone’s M.A.F.I.A. columns. This is opinions with balls. Read it. You might learn something.”
Harry Shannon
A good Steve Lukac vent is like Dennis Miller before he listed to starboard. Or maybe it’s a little more like Robin Williams on Vicodin. Whatever it is, read and ponder. You’ll be glad you did
J. A. Konrath
After reading the wickedly demented OOGIE BOOGIE CENTRAL, I picked up this collection of Lukac essays, hoping for the same skewed sense of humor.

Often hilarious, and sometimes touching, BTAYHT tackles such diverse topics as death, fatherhood, mallrats, getting lost in a housing development, sex, and Beanie Babies, and does so with the right balance of style and substance to keep you reading all night.

He's one of those few authors that I'll read anything by, because he doesn't

    You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll THINK!

I lost count of the number of times I said 'Right on!' or 'Thank You!' aloud as I read Steve Lukac's compilation of essays. His observational writings have the cynical flavor of Dennis Miller without the bitter aftertaste, or Dave Barry without the silliness. At the same time, Lukac has a style all his own. In most of the 'vents' in this book, he paints a vivid word picture of the events going on around him, and as we see the world through his eyes, he in effect taps us on the shoulder and asks 'Excuse me, but does anyone else think this is nuts?' With subject matter ranging from the Beanie Babies hysteria of a few years back to the characters who frequent his place of business to the odd synchronicities of life that make us all stop and wonder at times, this book had me either laughing so hard my face hurt or knowingly nodding my head, as I've encountered similar people and situations myself...and I believe that a good many other readers will probably have the same reaction. Here's to hoping that soon Steve Lukac will have another volume of his vents on the shelf for our enjoyment.

    Move over, Dennis Miller!!

Steve could pass his book along to Dennis Miller....would give Mr. Miller some great material to 'rant' about! Or should we say 'vent' as Mr. Lukac does? I found myself laughing outright while reading this book! Hysterical, yet so full of wisdom and insight. Cynical, funny, accurate and so well written....I found myself saying 'Oh my Gosh, yes!Yes! Yes!' Mr. Lukac's descriptions are right on target....they put you 'right there' in the situation he describes...ones we've all been in... A great book on 'what's up' and 'the way things are...' The book truly inspires you to sit back and think just a bit more about it all! A great read!! Well done, Mr. Lukac!
